Book Review: The Renter by Serena Pier

Dani and Adam are both picking up the pieces. She is living at home in the Geneva Lake area of Wisconsin for the summer after a career failure, and he is seeking distance from Chicago after his divorce. Neither expected to have a summer romance, yet the cottage he rents becomes the catalyst, bringing them together and inciting what's supposed to be a casual summer fling until they discover mutual connections, threatening their sexy whirlwind.

The Renter does not end in a traditional happy ending for a romance novel. The happy ending comes in the series' last book, The One.

Romance Tropes: Age Gap, Alpha Hero, Billionaire, Small Town, Unequal Social Status, Coming of Age, Instalust, Meet Cute, Second Chance, Forbidden, Love Triangle

SAGA Series
Finding yourself is a saga. Or at least for Dani Sommer it is. The SAGA series (The Townie, The Renter, The Client, The Reporter, and The One) follows Dani through the rollercoaster of her twenties, with many personal and professional ups and downs. Each book features a new relationship and love interest ... or two. Dani ends each book being stronger, smarter, and more in tune with her needs and desires.

The SAGA Series stands for Sorin, Adam, Gideon & Auden - the main male characters of each book.

Sorin - The Townie - Prequel
Adam - The Renter - Book #1
Gideon - The Client - Book #2
Auden - The Reporter - Book #3
??? - The One - Book #4

The SAGA Series is coming of age fiction with strong romantic themes. Each book also explores different spice styles and romance tropes. The traditional happy ending for a romance novel comes in the series' last book, The One.

MY REVIEW:

The RenterThe Renter by Serena Pier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved Dani. She lost her job after sink9ing money into a company and goes back home to live with her parents until she gets back on her feet. While out with friends they stop at her Aunt's house to grab some food only to find out there is a Renter there. A hot guy who she is instantly attracted to.
Adam is taking a break from his business after a divorce and getting some much needed rest.
The chemistry between these 2 was amazing and he is a great guy that just wants to help her get her career moving. Once he goes back to his business though he is a changed person and maybe someone Dani doesn't know. There is a lot of spice in this book.

For fans of The Bridge Kingdom and A Deal with the Elf King, this arranged marriage romance about a human princess forced to wed a dark and desperate Shadow King is sure to entice!

A shunned princess. A reluctant king.
A marriage that could save both their kingdoms . . . but destroy their hearts.

Though she is the oldest daughter, Princess Faraine lives in the background, shunned from court and kept out of sight. Her chronic illness makes her a liability to the crown, and she has learned to give place to her beautiful, favored younger sister in all things.

When the handsome and enigmatic Shadow King comes seeking a bride, Faraine is not surprised that her sister is his choice.

Though not eager to take a human bride, King Vor is willing to do what is necessary for the sake of his people. When he meets the lively Princess Ilsevel, he quickly agrees to a marriage arrangement.

So why can’t he get the haunting eyes of her older sister out of his head?

When disaster strikes and the marriage alliance is compromised, Faraine suddenly finds herself forced to take her sister’s place . . . regardless of her new husband’s desires. Can she find a place at Vor’s side as his queen? Or is his heart forever closed to the woman who deceived him so cruelly?

Passionate and alluring, Bride of the Shadow King is an arranged marriage tale with dual point-of-view (his and hers). It’s perfect for fantasy fans looking for a touch of spice to go with the sweet in their next swoony, slow-burn romance.

We have fiery unicorns, trolls, fae and humans all rolled into this great romantasy.
Faraine was supposed to wed but decided not to, to help her kingdom and she is sent to a convent. Then her sister is told she needs to marry but doesn't want to so Faraine is fetched by her brother to talk to her sister and that's where everything starts to happen. We meet the trolls and the fiery unicorns. I loved this book and can't wait for the next one.

Everyone thinks my husband is dead. Just like we planned…

Eleven years ago, my husband disappeared. Eleven long hard years I waited, my heart breaking for our son, who didn’t know his father was coming back.

Today, my hands shake as I try to understand what I’ve just learned: my husband has a new wife. This wasn’t part of our plan.

Eleven years ago, my husband made a terrible mistake. I sacrificed everything to help him fix it. But now he’s put our son and me in danger again.

We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

A completely gripping and addictive thriller from the number 1 ebook bestselling author K.L. Slater, The Married Man will have you glued to the pages until the very last twist. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Freida McFadden.

My REVIEW:

The Married ManThe Married Man by K.L. Slater
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

11 years ago Liv and Rich had a good marriage and a son. Then Rich went missing. They had plans and now it seems to be unraveling.
Kait is pregnant and her husband is acting strange and keeping secrets. She finds a note and investigates, Does he have another family and having an affair?
The story is told from a couple POVs but you do know who the POV is.
I thought I knew what was going on but then there is a twist and a couple of them I was like wow, I didn't see that one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ebook to review.
