Blog Tour: The Beach House by Jenny Hale

I totally forgot to post this on my date.

An absolutely gorgeous and heartwarming read about finding love where you least expect it, new beginnings, and how family is always with you, no matter where you are. Fans of Susan Mallery, Pamela Kelley, and Mary Alice Monroe will adore this romantic page-turner.

When her gram passes away, Melanie Simpson feels utterly lost. But her grandmother’s will gives her a purpose: an inheritance to buy a crumbling house in Rosemary Bay. They used to visit the village every summer, sit by the sparkling water on a beach the color of pearl, and daydream about turning the place on the corner into a bed and breakfast.

On her first night in her new hometown, Melanie meets local contractor and landowner Josh Claiborne, whose eyes match the dazzling sea. Melanie plans to restore the beach house to its original glory, and Josh is the perfect person to help renovate the wrap-around porch weathered by the coastal breeze and the peeling white paint faded by the sun.

But hiding in a closet is a yellowing stack of letters that could change everything. The looping handwriting reveals the mystery of the rickety house—a buried history that touches everyone in Rosemary Bay. Will its secrets bring Melanie and Josh together or tear them apart?

The Beach HouseThe Beach House by Jenny Hale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Melanie Simpson's grandmother passed away and her will instructs Melanie to use her inheritance to buy a crumbling house in Rosemary Bay. Melanie and her grandmother visited this town in the summers. They would daydream about turning the place on the corner into a bed and breakfast. Fulfilling her grandmother’s legacy, Melanie decides to restore the beach house to its original glory.
When Melanie runs into local carpenter, Josh Claiborne, whose eyes match the dazzling sea, she jumps at the chance to ask him for help. As they work together, Melanie tries to ignore their undeniable chemistry and how Josh’s rare smiles take her breath away––
Josh has made it clear that he is moving to New York and wants to become something and make more money. He is carrying baggage from a divorce and sounds like his ex was a cruel bitch.
Hiding in a closet is a yellowing stack of letters that Melanie finds. They are from the owner of the house to the love of his life. Which opens up questions and a whole can of worms.
I loved the chemistry between Melanie and Josh. He has mixed emotions because of his divorce and just when you think he is warming up to Melanie he turns cold again.
Will the letters secrets bring Melanie and Josh together or tear them apart?
This book was well written and even though we didn't get to meet Melanie's grandmother you could feel the love between the 2 and the special bond that they had.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the book to review.

Blog Tour: The Forever Home by Sue Watson

Today is my day for the blog tour.

You thought you’d always be safe there… you were wrong.

Carly had thought they’d always live there. The beautiful Cornish cliffside house they’d taken on as a wreck, that Mark had obsessively re-designed and renovated – a project that had made him famous. It was where they’d raised their children, where they’d sat cosily on the sofa watching storms raging over the sea below. It was where they’d promised to keep each other’s secrets…

Until now. Because Mark has fallen in love. With someone he definitely shouldn’t have. Someone who isn’t Carly. And suddenly their family home doesn’t feel like so much of a safe haven.

Carly thinks forever should mean forever though: it’s her home and she’ll stay there. Even the dark family secrets it contains feel like they belong to her. But someone disagrees. And, as threats start to arrive at her front door, it becomes clear, someone will stop at nothing. Because someone wants to demolish every last thing that makes Carly feel safe. Forever.

An utterly unputdownable psychological thriller about what lies are hidden in the most beautiful homes. Perfect for fans of Date Night, Gone Girl and The Woman in the Window.

The Forever HomeThe Forever Home by Sue Watson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, so many emotions but mostly anger.
Then Carly no longer feels safe in her home. Threats come in letters and things happen in the home.
We start out with Carly getting ready for their 25th wedding anniversary and Mark is running late. Then she finds out about an affair, with someone young enough to be his daughter. He has been a cheating all through their marriage and this as the last straw.
What he puts her through while she is trying to move on from their marriage is horrible. I wanted so badly to tell her to keep things between the lawyers. Stop calling him. I wanted to reach through the book and throttle Mark. He is such a despictable person. Her 2 adult children don't even seem to like him. I kept thinking of 1 person in their life who could have been the one causing all the things that were going on but I was wrong.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGGalley for the ARC to read
