Wax and his best friend Wayne are quite the characters. It is quite full of drama, magic and action.

Shadows Of Self Book 5 Shadows of Self (Mistborn, #5)

Hardcover383 pages
Published October 6th 2015 by Tor Books

Shadows of Self shows Mistborn’s society evolving as technology and magic mix, the economy grows, democracy contends with corruption, and religion becomes a growing cultural force, with four faiths competing for converts.

This bustling, optimistic, but still shaky society now faces its first instance of terrorism, crimes intended to stir up labor strife and religious conflict. Wax and Wayne, assisted by the lovely, brilliant Marasi, must unravel the conspiracy before civil strife stops Scadrial’s progress in its tracks.

                                                         MY REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I do own the hardcover but I listened to this on audio while looking at the book. Was a lot of fun doing it this way. The narrator, Michael Kramer, was really good as well.

It has romance, intrigue and a western vibe to it. Even though I don't care for westerns this was done so well. Elendel is no longer a peaceful and prosperous city that Harmony and the Originators left behind. Society is evolving and with that comes corruption.

Bands Of Mourning Book 6 The Bands of Mourning (Mistborn, #6)

Kindle Edition448 pages
Published January 26th 2016 by Tor

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.

The Bands of Mourning are the mythical metal minds owned by the Lord Ruler, said to grant anyone who wears them the powers that the Lord Ruler had at his command. Hardly anyone thinks they really exist. A kandra researcher has returned to Elendel with images that seem to depict the Bands, as well as writings in a language that no one can read. Waxillium Ladrian is recruited to travel south to the city of New Seran to investigate. Along the way he discovers hints that point to the true goals of his uncle Edwarn and the shadowy organization known as The Set.

This book was fantasy mixed with western and it was so much fun listening to this and the characters are just so intense and everything is action packed. I can't wait for the last book of the series to come out.

True Heroes series review by Piper J Drake

Extreme Honor (True Heroes, #1)Ultimate Courage (True Heroes, #2)Absolute Trust (True Heroes, #3)Total Bravery (True Heroes, #4)Fierce Justice (True Heroes, #5)
Forever Strong (True Heroes, #6)

I read this whole series in a week. It is called True Heroes. Hot military heroes,
the women who love them, and the dogs that always have their backs.

Buy all the books on Amazon

EXTREME HONOR Book 1 Extreme Honor (True Heroes, #1)

David Cruz is good at two things: war and training dogs. The ex-soldier's toughest case is Atlas, a Belgian Malinois whose handler died in combat. Nobody at Hope's Crossing Kennel can break through the animal's grief. That is, until dog whisperer Evelyn Jones walks into the facility . . . and into Atlas's heart. David hates to admit that the curvy blonde's mesmerizing effect isn't limited to canines. But when Lyn's work with Atlas puts her in danger, David will do anything to protect her.

Lyn realizes that David's own battle scars make him uniquely qualified for his job as a trainer. Tough as nails yet gentle when it counts, he's gotten closer to Atlas than anyone else-and he's willing to put his hard-wired suspicion aside to let her do the same. But someone desperate enough to kill doesn't want Lyn working with Atlas. Now only teamwork, trust, and courage can save two troubled hearts and the dog who loves them both . . .

                                            MY REVIEW:

Extreme Honor (True Heroes, #1)Extreme Honor by Piper J. Drake
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved this book from the start and it made me get to the whole series at once. German Shephard dogs and Belgian Malinois, yes please. Then hot guys on top of that and a romance with Intrigue had me hooked from the start. The place is called Hope's Crossing Kennel.
This story is about David Cruz and Atlas. Atlas is grieving for his former handler until Evelyn Jones walks in and then Atlas falls for her and maybe David does as well.

Ultimate Courage Book 2 Ultimate Courage (True Heroes, #2)

Retired Navy SEAL Alex Rojas is putting his life back together, one piece at a time. Being a single dad to his young daughter and working at Hope's Crossing Kennels to help rehab a former guard dog, he struggles every day to control his PTSD. But when Elisa Hall shows up, on the run and way too cautious, she unleashes his every protective instinct.

Elisa's past never stays in her rearview mirror for long, and she refuses to put anyone else in danger. But with Alex guarding her so fiercely yet looking at her so tenderly, she's never felt safer . . . or more terrified that the secrets she keeps could put countless people in grave peril. The only way for both to fully escape their demons will take the ultimate act of courage: letting go and learning to trust each other.

Ultimate Courage (True Heroes, #2)Ultimate Courage by Piper J. Drake
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The 2 book is about Alex Rojas and his young daughter. While in the ER for his daughter's injury they meet Elisa, who seems to be down. Alex's daughter befriends her right away. Alex and Elisa both seem to have demons and her life is in jeopardy and he wants to help her. All the characters in this book always seem to be there for each other and I loved how they just take in strangers who seem to need help.

Fierce Justice Book 5
Fierce Justice (True Heroes, #5)

As a K9 handler on the Search and Protect team, Arin Siri needs to be where the action is--and right now that's investigating a trafficking operation in Hawaii. When an enemy from her past shows up bleeding, she's torn between the desire to patch Jason up or put more holes in him. Then again, the hotshot mercenary could be the person she needs to bust open her case.

Jason Landon's team had always been about taking the contract, getting paid, and not asking questions. But after his last mission went south, he started to get curious. His questions quickly drove him out of his mercenary group and off the grid. Now, the only people he can think of to help him are the Search and Protect team -- and the dark beauty who is as ready to kill him as she is to bed him. And he's totally ready to risk the former for the chance at the latter. But he isn't the only person with a target on his back. Arin's in danger too, and he'll do everything he can to keep her safe.

This book can be read as a standalone but it also takes place months later from the last book into more of the Human Trafficking ring.
I always love the romance and the dogs in these books.
