Betrayal cuts deep when it comes from within the family…

Maria, Alex and Antonio Capello were raised by their gangster father with just one rule: family is everything. Now he’s dead, Maria works as a lawyer by day and a mob boss by night: risking everything if her secret life is ever revealed.

She trusts her smart, suave, dependable brother, Alex, with her life, but it breaks her heart that she can’t say the same about Antonio. As the black sheep of the family, Antonio is here for a good time, not a long time.

So when the head of another firm visits with news about Antonio causing problems in the grimy underworld of London’s Soho, Maria is furious. Of course she wants to protect her baby brother, but he just made an enemy of one of the deadliest families in London. If she doesn’t act now, all hell will break loose.

But Maria and Alex have no idea that Antonio has already taken his bad behaviour to the next level. He’s broken every rule they’ve ever lived by. Maria finds herself with a decision to make – look out for the firm or protect Antonio and risk everything her father built going up in flames. Can the Capellos survive, or will bad blood kill them off for good?

Fans of Martina Cole, Jacqui Rose and Kimberley Chambers will absolutely love this first book in a thrilling new series from bestselling gangland author Emma Tallon.

A Family Betrayal: A totally addictive and absolutely gripping crime thriller with a jaw-dropping twist (The Capello Family Series Book 1)A Family Betrayal: A totally addictive and absolutely gripping crime thriller with a jaw-dropping twist by Emma Tallon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emma Tallon did it again. Another mafia with great family ties but also dysfunctional. Also set in London. We also get to see the Tyler's and the Drew's from her other Crime Thriller series.
This one starts with the Capellos , Marie, Alex and Antonio who are working their fathers business after he had died.
also we meet Cat and her daughter. Cat's dad just died and she had told her husband she wanted a divorce and kicked him out of their home. But the next day she finds out there was a new will, from her dad, leaving everything to her husband and she gets nothing. So since she has nothing she gets a job working for the Capellos mom. She also will fight to find out about this will.
I really liked Maria, Alex and their mom but Antonio is a horrible person who gets away with to much.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the book to review,

Fans of Martina Cole and Kimberley Chambers are in for a treat with this absolutely heart-stopping, gripping gangland crime thriller from bestselling author Emma Tallon.

Scarlet Drew has one rule: never back down. But when an anonymous letter turns up at her house telling her they know what really happened the night her cousin Ruby died, Scarlet’s heart races. If they know what happened to Ruby, then they know that Scarlet was there – a secret she has kept guarded from the rest of her notorious family, and for good reason.

Her aunt Lily is the formidable boss of one of London’s biggest crime firms and if she discovers the truth about Ruby’s death, Scarlet knows she’ll be cast out of the family for good. Or worse, if her cousin Cillian finds out, he’ll hunt her down and kill her with his bare hands…

Unaware of Scarlet’s dangerous situation, Lily and Cillian move forward with a plan to execute their most daring heist yet. But with big reward comes unthinkable danger and they need everyone’s full focus on the job, if they’re to pull it off.

So failure is not an option for Scarlet – if she’s to stay alive and on top, she must find out who wrote the note, but time is running out. As she closes in on her nemesis, she’s shocked to discover that it’s someone she’s trusted her whole life. Loyalty means everything to Scarlet, and this is a betrayal like no other. One thing is certain: this is her most dangerous enemy yet, and as time runs out, Scarlet knows it’s either her life or theirs…

MY REVIEW:
5 STARS

This series keeps getting better and better.
Scarlet is getting letters and blackmailed that they know what happened to Ruby the night she died. Her Aunt Lily is head of one of the biggest crime families and Scarlet never told her the truth about Ruby's death and is afraid Lily won't believe her.
While that is going on the family is trying to pull off a big heist.
The family dynamics in this keeps sucking me in and how they all stick up for each other is how a family should be.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Her Fight (Drew Family, #5)Her Fight by Emma Tallon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series is a spinoff from the Anna Davis series, which you should read first but not necessary to know what is going on. You do want to read this series in order to understand the characters.
As always I enjoyed this book and the ending... perfect.
Scarlet Drew is hellbent on getting revenge on her cousin Ruby after she exposed Scarlet’s illicit affair with a Met detective. Scarlett's Aunt Lily knows that Scarlet will kill Ruby if she is found. Even though Ruby is her daughter she does understand why but would like to find Ruby first.
Scarlet's other enemy is a cop, who was partners with Scarlet's lover. Who also was in love with him.
The Drew's are also dealing with a secret that came out n the last book and how the boys are dealing with it.

That’s when she sees that her hands are covered in black pen, scribbled messages like graffiti on her skin: STAY AWAKE.
This story goes back and forth from the present to 2 years ago.
She’s horrified to see reports of a crime scene where the victim’s blood has been used to scrawl a message across a window, the same message that’s inked on her hands. What did she do last night? And why does she remember nothing from the past two years?
This book grabbed me from the beginning and read it all in 1 sitting. As we find out what has happened 2 years ago I had an idea what had happened and maybe who had done what. I felt really bad for Liv as she would forget everything every time she woke up.

Not everyone agrees with their illicit relationship, but so far they’ve managed to keep it a secret from anyone outside the family. If only her nemesis, cousin Ruby, wasn’t still hanging around, life would be perfect.

Lily Drew is keeping a watchful eye on the building tension between Ruby and Scarlet – the last thing she needs is a war breaking out inside the family. But when people start going missing from a local boxing ring with close connections to the Drews, it puts the family back on the police’s radar and her worst nightmare is realised. With the police now watching their every move, it’s only a matter of time before the situation takes a dark turn.

As Lily tries to regain control, another person disappears from the boxing ring, and this time it’s a Drew. Ruby finally has a chance to prove her loyalty to the family, but she’ll have to get over her rivalry with Scarlet first. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book of The Drew Family. Just as good as the other 3.
The Drews are a crime family and consists of Lily who is the mother of Ruby, Connor, and Cillian and her niece Scarlet.
Ruby has always been the black sheep of the family and into a lot of trouble and drugs. She has been clean for awhile and wants to show the family that she should be a part of the business. That Scarlet should be out and she will do whatever she can to make that happen.
Scarlet's boyfriend, John, is a policeman who fell for Scarlet but they have to keep it a secret except for family.
Lily has noticed the tension between Ruby and Scarlet and is keeping an eye on it and hoping they can work things out.
Then people start missing from the local boxing ring, which has a tie to the Drews. This time a Drew goes missing. Will he be found?
Will Ruby get her revenge she thinks she should get?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Head of the family crime business, and with a new guy in her life, things have never been better for Scarlet Drew. Working with her aunt Lily on their biggest ever job – revenge on the woman who set fire to their factory, with Lily’s daughter trapped inside.
We start out with Lil's daughter coming home from the hospital and being the crime family they are, getting revenge of the person who harmed the family.
Scarlet also finds out her boyfriend, John, is a cop. Now she doesn't know if she can trust him.
As the family plans a heist, the cops are involved, again but maybe in their favor.
What is it with this author and her mobs series that keep me wanting more? The family dynamics and what they won't do for each other.
I received this from Bookouture and NetGalley.

Her RivalHer Rival by Emma Tallon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Set on the same mean streets as her bestselling Tyler Family series. Which is one of my favorite series that never wanted to end.
Now I have this series which is just as good. Another crime family series. This is the 2nd book and took off from where Her Revenge ended.
Scarlet is at a party when a circumstance landed in her lap and she decided revenge is oh so sweet. With her family's support they go after something bigger than they have ever dealt with. Hoping they haven't gotten in over their heads.
Meanwhile the black sheep of the family, Ruby, is also looking into something. Something in which Scarlett could get hurt emotionally.
This is a page turner and one I could not put down. The ending though leaves you with your mouth hanging open.
I will be looking towards the next book in the series.

In a city of sinners, a killer is hunting…

Las Vegas, Nevada: a killer is on the hunt.

When the two of the city’s crime bosses are found brutally murdered within days of each other, the fragile balance of Sin City threatens to collapse. It’s exactly what the killer wants…

But there is one thing this killer hasn’t counted on…

Grant Fletcher has been sent to Vegas by a shady government agency. He has one job: find the killer, and stop them before more people die. Stop them, by any means.

Would you send a desperate man to find a vigilante killer?

It looks like a dangerous gamble. But what neither the killer—nor the government agency—know is that the odds are never good unless you’ve got Fletcher on your side.

Fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne and J.B. Turner’s Jon Reznick will love the Grant Fletcher series.

Third KillThird Kill by John Ryder
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book of the Grant Fletcher series.
Grant Fletcher has been sent to Vegas by a shady government agency. He has one job: find the killer, and stop them before more people die. Stop them, by any means. He is assigned to work with Special Agent Quadrago. Together they are to take down the killer, a woman called The Mantis. She has no qualms on who she kills or the age or sex of people.
I like Grant Fletcher, he is a bad ass that will take down the bad people no matter what means he has to use. I also liked agent Quadrago and I felt they worked well together, even if they didn't always agree on things. I did not like Quadrago's boss. He was an arrogant jerk as far as I was concerned.
This book was fast paced and full of a lot of adventure. I read this in 1 sitting.

Blog Tour: The Blessed Bones by Kathryn Casey

She could hear nothing but the sound of her own heartbeat. It was dark and the rough ground scraped against her as she tried to move. Being alone was strange to her—she was so used to her big family, to the noise, the warmth, but the last thing she wanted was for the woman to return…

When Detective Clara Jefferies returned home to Alber, Utah, she knew it would take a long time to convince the closed community to trust her. So she is surprised to be called to private land up in the mountains, until she hears that the bones of a young girl have been found. And hidden in the dark depths of the grave are the remains of a baby too…

Digging into the town’s missing persons files, Clara is shocked to discover that pregnant girls have been going missing for years. And when she spots Ash Crawford, the first cop on the scene, praying over the bodies, she begins to suspect that he knows more about the victim than he’s letting on.

With Crawford staying silent, and the identity of the girl still unknown, Clara’s only choice is to visit every family living on the mountaintop, desperate to find what they might be hiding. But doing so means facing the man she was once bound to, and the tall iron gates of the ranch she ran away from all those years ago.

Then another pregnant girl is reported missing, and Clara ramps up her search, racing to find her alive. But can she uncover the town’s dark secrets in time to save both the girl and her unborn child?

A heart-pounding crime thriller that twists and turns like a rollercoaster, leaving you on the edge of your seat. Readers of Lisa Regan, Linda Castillo and Kendra Elliot will be completely addicted.

The Blessed Bones (Detective Clara Jefferies, # 3)The Blessed Bones by Kathryn Casey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book of the Clara Jefferies series. I have read the other 2 and will continue on with the series.
They take place in Utah and full of what I call a cult. With Polygamists and men who treat women as their property and they are to obey the men. Clara grew up as a kid in that community and then she moved away and was banished from her family. Clara is now detective and not welcomed back. Her mom shuns her but a few of her sisters want to be a part of her life.
During development in some land bones are dug up. Clara needs to find out who the skeleton belongs to. A ex US Marshal gets involved, He is retired and is really forcing his way into the investigation and Clara doesn't trust him. He seems to be secretive on why he is involving himself.

Scarlet Drew isn’t to be messed with. As the daughter of a notorious London gangster, she’s got enough street smarts to take on the world. When someone close to Scarlet is murdered in cold blood on the East End streets where she grew up, her family’s honour is at stake and she can only think of one thing – revenge.

Joining her aunt Lily at the head of the family business, Scarlet soon realises that the murder is just one part of a plot by a rival firm to take down the entire Drew empire, and she fears that her aunt could be their next target.

As everything they built begins to crumble, the Drew family find their livelihood and their reputations under pressure. Then, Scarlet’s estranged cousin Ruby suddenly comes back into the family, with a revelation that could tear the Drews apart. But can she be trusted? As Scarlet makes some tough decisions, one thing is for sure: family means everything to her and she will stop at nothing to protect it, even if it means putting her own life at risk.

Strong women, family dramas and nail-biting tension make Her Revenge a book not to be missed.

MY REVIEW:

Her Revenge: An absolutely gripping and gritty crime thriller about betrayal, revenge and family secretsHer Revenge: An absolutely gripping and gritty crime thriller about betrayal, revenge and family secrets by Emma Tallon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you read Emma Tallon's other series, Anna Davis, then run out nd get your hand on this book. Emma did it again with a crime family and actually threw in Anna Davis and Freddie Tyler from that series. I was sad when Emma ended that series but oh man she sucked me right in with this series and I can't wait for the next book.
Lily Drew and her brother Ronan are crime family, set in London. Lily has twin sons who are also in the family business and now Ronan's daughter, Scarlet. Scarlet is tough and had to be growing up in this family. When a family member dies she steps up to help.
Lily has daughter, Ruby who is always begging for money to get her next fix and thinks she is due for all the handouts.
We have 2 strong women in this family and won't let anyone bring them down.
Thank you Emma Tallon for another awesome book.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC to review.

Book Review: Faithless In Death by JD Robb

The scene in the West Village studio appears to be classic crime-of-passion: two wine glasses by the bed, music playing, and a young sculptor named Ariel Byrd with the back of her head bashed in. But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don't add up. Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, comforted by her handsome fiancé as she sheds tears over the trauma of finding the body--but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things?

As Eve and her team look into Gwen, her past, and the people around her, they find that the lies are about more than murder. As with sculpture, they need to chip away at the layers of deception to find the shape within--and soon they're getting the FBI involved in a case that involves a sinister, fanatical group and a stunning criminal conspiracy.

the 52nd book of this series and I can never get enough. This was one of my favorites.

We find out about a big Cult that isn't just in NY city but in other states that branch off of it. Gwen's parents are part owners of the cult. How they treat women is deplorable and they don't believe that gay people should be accepted or mixed marriages. You want to go in steal the children and raise them yourselves.
Thank you to Eve and her team and working with the FBI to see what needs to be done to disban this cult.

Lt. Eve Dallas is about to walk into the shadows of her husband's dangerous past.

As it often did since he'd married a cop, murder interrupted more pleasant activities. Then again, Roarke supposed, the woman lying in a pool of her own blood a few steps inside the arch in Washington Square Park had a heftier complaint.

When a night out at the theatre is interrupted by the murder of a young woman in Washington Square Park, it seems like an ordinary case for Detective Eve Dallas and her team. But when Roarke spots a shadow from his past in the crowd, Eve realises that this case is far from business as usual.

Eve has two complex cases on her hands - the shocking murder of this wealthy young mother and tracking down the shadow before he can strike again, this time much closer to home. Eve is well used to being the hunter, but how will she cope when the tables are turned? As Eve and the team follow leads to Roarke's hometown in Ireland, the race is on to stop the shadow making his next move . . .

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 7th book of the series and they keep getting better and I can never get enough
This is a crime thriller/mob story and the same characters are in all the books and to know what is going on then I recommend reading them in order.
Anna Davies is young, smart and successful, plus she’s the head of one of London’s biggest crime networks.
Beautiful, rich and powerful, Sophia Ivanov has been sniffing around Anna’s business empire and she’s got only one thing on her mind – revenge. She thinks Anna and Freddie has her Russian crime boss husband killed.
Freddie Tyler runs everything in the city of London. He is also Anna's boyfriend.
I can never get enough of this series. The whole family dynamics and how they treat people who are loyal to them. But don't double cross them.
