Blog Tour: Husband and Wife by K.L Slater

We promised to keep each other’s secrets. Until they found the body…
The Wife:
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can…
The Husband:
I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper. That I’ve not always been faithful. Will they think I killed her?
I think of my wife’s jealous streak, of the lies she’s told our loved ones. But if I tell the whole truth, they’ll look into her past. And that will destroy me, too…
Two people fighting for their lives. Two people with secrets to hide. Who will you believe?
A completely compelling and twisty page-turner from number 1 bestselling author K.L. Slater. Fans of Lisa Jewell and Freida McFadden will be hooked by Husband and Wife.

Husband and Wife: A completely gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller with a shocking twist by K L Slater

Shelleen Toland's review
Nov 06, 2023 ·
A husband and wife, Luna and Parker seem to have marital problems and then it seems that Parker got in over his head and is in trouble. Luna's parents are snobs, have money and seem to control their daughter's life along with Parkers. Parker's parents are the opposite but he isn't close to his dad, just his mom. An accident happens which causes and effect you would not believe. The twist at the end was a little bit more than I had expected but there was one twist I wasn't really surprised. Book Review: Filthy Rich Vampire - Geneva Lee

Julian Rousseaux has a problem. He’s single, and for the world’s wealthiest vampires, the social season is about to begin. Julian would rather stake himself than participate in the marriage market. But as the eldest eligible Rousseaux, he’s expected to find a wife before the season ends―whether he likes it or not.

When cellist Thea literally stumbles into his life at a gala, he knows she's the last person he could ever fall in love with. She's too innocent, too kind, and way too human. But now that she knows about his world, she's also a walking target. She needs protection. He needs a fake girlfriend to discourage overzealous vampire matchmaking.

So, Julian makes Thea an irresistible offer: pretend to be his lover and he’ll change her life. For one year, they’ll attend the season’s social events together in exchange for his protection and a way out of her mother’s crippling medical debt.

She can’t say no. But the vampire world is impossibly decadent and darker than Thea ever imagined, and Julian’s filthy rich vampire family wants her out of the way. But with each moment they share, new dangers emerge: a desire as forbidden as their stolen touches, an awakening of a long-dead heart, and secrets that could tear them both apart.

Sensual, dangerous, provocative ― step into a daring new world of dark magic, primal attraction, and breathtaking romance.

Filthy Rich Vampire (Filthy Rich Vampires, #1)Filthy Rich Vampire by Geneva Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Julian Rousseaux is single and very rich, oh yeah and a vampire. When cellist Thea literally stumbles into his life at a gala, he knows she's the last person he could ever fall in love with.
I loved these 2 together and she didn't seem to weirded out to find out he is a vampire. His family wants hm to settle down and have babies, with a witch. Thea isn't good enough for him according to his family. He also has brothers and his best friend is the one they wanted him to marry but they never had feelings with each other. This is the 1st book of series and I really want to read the rest of the books.

Photographer Viv Montgomery’s dreams were bigger than her small hometown of Blossom Glen. Following them meant leaving everything and everyone behind—including her sweet and funny best friend, Logan Matthews. Now, twelve years later, the town’s “sweetheart” is back, broke, and…well, working in the town’s famous Christmas store until she figures out her next move.

Enter her former best friend who she hasn’t seen or talked to in years. Only the cute, funny guy she remembers is gone—replaced by a famous, bestselling author who seems aloof, jaded, and is much, much hotter than any book nerd she’s ever seen. Seeing him in the news is one thing, but up close and person? Whewf, it’s warm in here.

Now he’s offered her a job she desperately needs (blissfully free of Santas), and suddenly it’s like no time has passed at all. Their friendship is just like it was…with one very unexpected difference. Because somewhere between the blossom festival and snuggling in front of a crackling fire, their friendship is definitely turning into something more. Only, Logan’s been hiding the secret of his enormous success…and the sweetheart of Blossom Glen is about to read all about it.

Book Review: Hell of An Angel by Christi Barth

                                                                   Buy on Amazon

Raised in Hell. Living in Buffalo. And on the verge of accidentally destroying both realms…

Dark angel and actuary Evangeline Thayer hates taking unnecessary risks, but she knows becoming human will be worth it. All the creatures in Hell have bullied her about her negligible ‘power’ her whole life. And don’t get her started on why she has wings if she can’t even fly?!? She just needs a teensy bit of help with removing her power…which is where a very hot, very flirty, and absolutely infuriating Nephilim comes in.

Half-angel Gideon Durand has been fighting demons a long time, but he’s never heard of a dark angel. Least of all one this gorgeous, stubborn, and with the power to completely nullify evil. Maybe in Hell, that’s a weakness—but with an unknown evil on the loose and murdering Nephilim?—that’s a damned useful skill. So Gideon strikes a deal with Evangeline: he’ll scratch her wings…if she’ll scratch his.

Now good and evil are—temporarily—working together. And might even be having steamy fun…if it wasn’t for a rather inconvenient threat trying to unleash the apocalypse, once and for all.

Each book in the Unlocking His Heart series is STANDALONE:

really liked it

I enjoyed meeting Erin, her daughter and mother. Erin works in a hotel and lives with her mother so she can take care of her. I could not stand her ex husband and how he handled things that was going on in his life and including the daughter without talking to Erin first. He seems to be a very selfish and controlling person.
When Erin finds out her mother isn't who she thought she was I was just as invested in learning the truth myself.

Ever since I tried to escape, he’s been keeping me in the dark. My bones ache with the cold. The longer I sit, trapped alone with just my thoughts, the more I worry… What if this is it? What if I never get to leave?

The sun is rising on another cold winter’s day in Coyote Cove when Chief Maggie Riley finds an unmarked envelope on the steps of the police station. Inside is a photo of a teenage girl, bound and bruised. Maggie’s heart constricts at the terror in her tear-filled eyes. Who is she? What has happened to her? Who would have left this photo, but done nothing else to help?

Maggie moved to Coyote Cove for a quieter life after her beloved young brother went missing five years ago. And this case feels as personal as anything she’s worked on since then. With no one reporting the girl missing, seemingly unloved and forgotten, Maggie vows to rescue her, and bring whoever hurt her to justice.

As Maggie mines the photograph for clues to hunt down the girl and her captor, her search takes her deep into the seedy, dangerous underbelly of the secretive logging camps. Hidden away in the woods, a law unto themselves, Maggie is in uncharted—and deadly—territory.

Then she finds the body of a girl who was said to have run away years ago, one with ties of her own to the loggers. And Maggie knows she’s on the right track. But as her search for the truth intensifies, Maggie’s own safety is threatened. Can she save an innocent girl’s life and get out alive herself, or could this be the one investigation she won’t survive…?

A dark and totally gripping crime thriller, perfect for fans of D.K. Hood, Melinda Leigh and Lisa Regan.

MY REVIEW:

The Shadow Girl (Chief Maggie Riley #3)The Shadow Girl by Shannon Hollinger
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Maggie moved to Coyote Cove for a quieter safer life than the city. She didn't plan on missing girls and murders. She is also a one woman show so she hires a partner. When he comes into town people don't like him. Maggie isn't well liked either.
Maggie has a picture put on her windshield of a girl beaten up. When she asks the mom for her help then Maggie is told the girl is at her Uncle's house. Things don't sir right with Maggie and she is lke a dog with a bone and doesn't give up looking for this girl.
I really like Shannon's books and always look forwards to a new release.

Book Review: Unfortunately Yous - Tessa Bailey

Published June 6, 2023

buy from amazon

A down-on-her-luck Napa heiress suggests a mutually beneficial marriage of convenience to a man she can't stand... only to discover there's a fine line between love and hate.

After losing her job and her fiancé in one fell swoop, Natalie Vos returned home to lick her wounds. A few months later, she's sufficiently drowned her sorrows in cabernet and she's ready to get back on her feet. She just needs her trust fund to finance her new business venture. Unfortunately, the terms require she marry before she can have the money. And well, dumped, remember? But Natalie is desperate enough to propose to a man who makes her want to kill him--and kiss him, in equal measure.

August Cates may own a vineyard, but he doesn't know jack about making wine. He's determined to do his late best friend proud, no matter what it takes. Except his tasting room is empty, his wine is disgusting (seriously, he once saw someone gag), and his buddy's legacy is circling the drain. No bank will give him the loan he needs to turn the business around... and then the gorgeous, feisty heiress knocks on his door. Natalie has haunted his dreams since the moment they met, but their sizzling chemistry immediately morphed into simmering insults.

Now, a quickie marriage could help them both. A sham wedding, a few weeks living under the same roof, and then they can go their separate ways--assuming they make it out alive. How hard could it be? There's just one thing they didn't account for: their unfortunate, unbearable, undeniable attraction.

MY REVIEW:

Unfortunately YoursUnfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

August and Natalie have hated each other in a long time. He needs money to get his wine going and Natalie needs to marry to get her money. What better way than to marry in paper only.
Things do not go as planned and the bickering between these 2 had me laughing at times and sometimes wanting to yell at them both.

As she closes in on her nemesis, she’s shocked to discover that it’s someone she’s trusted her whole life. Loyalty means everything to Scarlet, and this is a betrayal like no other. One thing is certain: this is her most dangerous enemy yet, and as time runs out, Scarlet knows it’s either her life or theirs…

MY REVIEW:
5 STARS

This series keeps getting better and better.
Scarlet is getting letters and blackmailed that they know what happened to Ruby the night she died. Her Aunt Lily is head of one of the biggest crime families and Scarlet never told her the truth about Ruby's death and is afraid Lily won't believe her.
While that is going on the family is trying to pull off a big heist.
The family dynamics in this keeps sucking me in and how they all stick up for each other is how a family should be.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Book Review: Star Crossed Letters by Sarah Deehan

Published April 28, 2023

Buy on Amazon

One girl with a typewriter + one movie star = anonymous pen pals, a secret crush, and a steamy, slow-burn summer to risk it all.

The bookshop barista…
When I sold a vintage typewriter, I never imagined its new owner would become my pen pal, best friend, and secret crush.
We have two no photos and no real names.

Over the years, “Remington” and I go from typewritten notes to daily texts, but our rules stay the same. And so does my life. I’m a wannabe writer who can’t complete a novel, and I’ve fallen for a guy who I’ve never met.

So when I receive a letter my Nanna wrote before she died encouraging me to embark on a summer of risks—my first on the list is to break all the rules.

& the celebrity...
I hate keeping secrets from my pen pal, the one woman I care about. But I’m Hollywood’s hottest celebrity, and my fame is toxic. If I get close to a girl, she becomes vulnerable, stalked by the tabloids, trolls, and superfans.

Our anonymous friendship works until “Typewriter Girl” suddenly ghosts me. Now, I’ll do anything to ensure she’s safe, including stepping out from behind the screen and leading a double life.

MY REVIEW:
4/5 stars

I  really liked it I received this from the author to read and fell in love with both characters. Olivia is quiet and loves books. Chase is a movie star who was given a typewriter. On the typewriter was a typed letter that Olivia had typed and Chase wrote to her and they became pen pals not knowing who each other is. But things changed and Chase went to find her and not telling her that he was her pen pal she was fangirling Chase as a movie star. It is a slow burn but so cute. Thank you to Sarah for the book to review.

Worse, when Selene braves the jungle and discovers the source of the attack, she finds herself awakening an ancient evil, Memnon the Cursed, who mistakes Selene for his long-dead wife. The wife who betrayed him. Selene manages to escape and begin her studies at Henbane, but when Memnon turns up at the coven and witches are found dead across campus, Selene becomes entangled in a dangerous plot. Accused of the murders on the basis of her memory loss, Selene must rely on Memnon's help for answers―and his plans for her will change everything.

MY REVIEW:

Bewitched (Bewitched, #1)Bewitched by Laura Thalassa
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Selene is a witch who forgets parts of her memory every time she uses magic.
I really disliked Memnon. He says Selene was his wife from years ago and instead of trying to help her remember, he torments her.
I kept yelling at him to STFU lol. I believed what he was saying but he was going about it all the wrong way.
I wanted Selene with the werewolf. I think there was also something there between them and a chemistry that could have been shown more.
Thank you to NetGalley and sourcebooks for the ARC to read.

Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. She’s been brought back to life twice, and, with a single kiss, she woke her true love from eternal sleep. She now lives happily ever after with her undead prince in a castle in the woods.

… or something like that anyway.

Book Review: King of Wrath by Ana Huang

She’s the wife he never wanted…and the weakness he never saw coming.

Ruthless. Meticulous. Arrogant.

Dante Russo thrives on control, both personally and professionally.

The billionaire CEO never planned to marry—
until the threat of blackmail forces him into an engagement with a woman he barely knows.

Vivian Lau, jewelry heiress and daughter of his newest enemy.

It doesn’t matter how beautiful or charming she is. He'll do everything in his power to destroy the evidence and their betrothal.

There’s only one problem: now that he has her...he can't bring himself to let her go.

***
Elegant. Ambitious. Well-mannered.

Vivian Lau is the perfect daughter and her family’s ticket into the highest echelons of high society.

Marrying a blue-blooded Russo means opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to her new-money family.

While the rude, elusive Dante isn't her idea of a dream partner, she agrees to their arranged marriage out of duty.

Craving his touch was never part of the plan.

Neither was the worst thing she could possibly do: fall in love with her future husband.

King of Wrath is a steamy billionaire/arranged marriage romance. It contains explicit sexual content, profanity, and mild violence. Recommended for mature readers only.

King of Wrath (Kings of Sin, #1)King of Wrath by Ana Huang
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

You always know who is going to end up with each other but it is the journey of how they get there that makes these types of books a lot of fun. Never go ny the title of a book to know what the genrs is as I thought it would be a fantasy but it wasn't at all.
Vivian's father blackmails Dante into marrying Vivian. Dante does not want to be married. He is a billionaire and used to calling the shots. Now he needs to find a way out of ths engagement and take down Vivian's father.
I did not like Vivian's parents at all and Dante's parents were strange.
Dante didn't plan on falling in love nor did Vivian.

Book Review: The One by Julia Argy

Published April 18, 2023

A razor-sharp and seductively hypnotic debut novel about the very fantasy of falling in love.

Emily is not particularly interested in dating. She simply wants to change her life after being fired from her dead-end job. So when she is recruited for the popular reality dating show The One, it doesn’t take much thought for her to sign up; it’s not as if she’d actually fall in love. But upon her arrival on set, it becomes clear her producer, Miranda, will do nearly anything to make sure Emily gets engaged by the end of the season, even if it means breaking Emily’s trust. The pressure builds as Emily navigates her connection with the lead and a growing relationship with another contestant. As the arc of the season begins to slot into place, both Emily and Miranda are forced to decide what they want—and what they are willing to do to get it.

A brilliant send-up of our cultural mythology around romance, The One examines how people can confuse wanting to be looked at—to be singled out and desired—with desire itself.

MY REVIEW:

The OneThe One by Julia Argy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book made me see exactly what I thought The Bachelor and Bachelorette shows are like. Very fake, being told how to act and what to say or how to say it. I know the show is all about ratings which is how the story is in this book.
Emily lost her job and has no wheres to go. She gets recruited for the show but doesn't expect anything from it.
Dylan is the bachelor in this story and I like him but felt like I do just watching the commercials of the tv shows, yuck. Why would I want to see a guy I might want to be with kissing , making out and god knows what else with the other girls?
I did feel bad for Dylan a few times.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin fo the book to review.
