About RAFE:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett comes a new story in her Arizona Vengeance series…

I was living my dream until one phone call changed everything.

As the second line center for the Arizona Vengeance, my mind has been on one thing—helping my team bring home a championship. But that all changed when I found out my dad had cancer and only months to live. In that moment, nothing mattered more than getting home to North Carolina to be by his side. That meant asking for the unthinkable—a trade to the Carolina Cold Fury.

Now Im home and when Im not on the ice with my new team, Im helping care for my dad. And in the midst of my grief, I find comfort from the one person I never expected.

Calliope Ramirez stole my heart at a very young age. The beautiful, smart, headstrong girl next door, she was my first… everything. She has never forgiven me for leaving her, believing that I chose hockey over a future together. What she doesnt understand is that every decision I made was for her, and Ive never given up hope that one day wed be together again.

Watching my dad slip away is a harsh reminder of how short life can be, and having Calliope by my side makes me realize I was a damn fool before. That changes starting right now. Calliope Ramirez is mine and Im not going to waste the second chance that Ive been given.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, its an introduction to an authors world. And for fans, its a bonus book in the authors series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Excerpt:

You look like a fairy sea princess,” I tell her truthfully.
She blinks, waterdrops fall.
I cant help it... I start laughing.
Immediately, I snap my mouth shut and bite down hard on my tongue. Im sorry.”
Calliope blinks again and then her lips part.
I snicker.
Then snort.
Her beautiful eyes narrow on me, and the next thing I know, shes sending a wave of nasty pond water right at me. It catches me full in the face, hits the back of my throat, and I choke on it. I deserve it.
When I clear my eyes, Calliope is bent over, laughing hysterically, her shoulder dipping down into the water. The sound of her lilting voice is music to my ears, and I dont want it to stop.
So whats a guy to do?
I splash a wall of water back at her. She sputters and looks stunned for only a moment before her palms slap at the ponds surface, and Im caught full in the face again.
Then its on.
We both go at each other, laughing and splashing. Calliope comes up to her knees. She wobbles in the sucking mud but gets better leverage on me. Im entirely doused by wave after wave. I hold up my arms, trying to protect myself, and suddenly realize I need to go more on the offensive.
I lurch up, lunge at her, and grab her wrists to stop the inundation. Shes laughing so hard she barely has any strength left to fight against me. Her face is flushed despite the chill, and I cant fucking help myself.
I crash my mouth down on hers, feel her freeze in shock for a moment, and then gobble down the sultry groan that warbles out of her. It heats me to my bones, and then were clawing at each other.
Grabbing, fisting clothing, attacking each other with our mouths. My hands make their way back to her face, intent on holding her still so I can consume everything she has to offer.
The kiss is atomic, off-the-charts hot, and filled with so much emotion I dont know whether shes coming at me with hate or something else.
Doesnt matter.
Im not stopping.
Then something comes over me...a calm that feels like a steadying hand. I slow myself, make an exploring and leisurely swipe of my tongue against hers, and she melts into my body. An arm around her waist, I pull both of us to a standing position, the water lapping at my lower legs. I haul her into me and kiss her with all the regret Ive been carrying around in my soul for years—a sincere apology.

It was just...so perfectly done. So beautifully written and so emotionally fulfilling. It was absolutely everything I was hoping for and my heart is overflowing with feels." ~ Shelly, Bookgasms Book Blog

“The writing was observantly insightful and sneakily emotive. . . . The storylines were briskly paced, well plotted, written with my favorite dual POV, and kept me continually entertained with a pleasantly engaging romance while also tickling my curiosity as I waited for the looming threat to arise.”—Books and Bindings
“Add together an incredibly sexy story and a swoon-worthy hero with the intensity of a hockey player and you have an absolute winner. Sawyer Bennett has long been an instant one-click author for me, and Eriks story is a fantastic addition to the Arizona Vengeance series.”—Stacey Lynn, author of Knocked Up
“Forbidden fruit always tastes better! With the kick off of a new hockey series, Sawyer Bennett introduces us to the Arizona Vengeance team and brings us Bishops story. The characters are quick to grab attention, and keep us entertained throughout.”—Thoughts of a Blonde

Book Review: A Justified Murder #2 by Jude Deveraux

A Justified Murder (Medlar Mystery #2)  The small town of Lachlan, Florida, was rocked last year when two bodies were uncovered in the roots of a fallen tree. Despite their lack of investigative experience, Sara Medlar; her niece, Kate; and Jack Wyatt found themselves at the center of the mystery, working together to reveal the truth behind a decades-old secret in the sleepy town. After a narrow escape, they vowed to never again involve themselves in something so dangerous—until Janet Beeson is murdered.

When Janet’s body is discovered, everyone is shocked by the violence of the attack. The sweet little old woman has been shot, stabbed and poisoned, but no one can imagine who would want to harm one of the town’s kindest, most helpful residents.

Sara, Kate and Jack are determined to leave this case to the professionals. But they are soon bombarded by townspeople eager to tell their stories and clear their names with the trio who solved the Morris murders. Even the sheriff is hoping they’ll lend their skills to a crime that seems to have no explanation and no motive. And once the town gets talking, they begin to see that there are more secrets buried in quiet Lachlan than anyone could have imagined…

                           MY REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sara Medlar is an author, with her niece Kate and a man like a son, Jack, they end up getting involved in murders. This trio always seems to stumble upon bodies and start figuring out what happened. Even when they say they won't get involved they do.
This time Janet Beeson is murdered. This sweet little old woman was stabbed, shot and poisoned. Everyone said how kind she was and helpful to everyone.
But at all hours of the night their door is being pounded on. Please clear my name, she was so helpful, and on and on these folks confide in the trio. Even the sheriff has asked for their help. But as they continue to look into Janet, they find out she isn't who they thought she was and all kinds of secrets come about.
I am enjoying this series and the banter between the trio. Jack really likes Kate and tries to make all kinds of innuendos but she keeps thwarting his ideas. Even though you think she really likes him. She sees him as a ladies man.

This is a novella and was a quick read. We learn about King in this book. He was a ruthless businessman in the previous books of the series. Now we get to know him. He is out of vengeance.
Adeline has had something taken away from her and she is out to get it. But King has it. They make a deal. She can have what she wants if she does something for King. You can feel the chemistry between these 2 as you keep reading. Learning about King's past has you realising just how bad of a person he has been and why. Maybe there is good in him after all, well maybe,

Kelly Bowen grew up in Manitoba, Canada. She worked her way through her teenage years as a back country trail guide and ranch hand. She attended the University of Manitoba and earned a Master of Science degree in veterinary physiology and endocrinology.

But it was Kelly's infatuation with history and a weakness for a good love story that led her down the path of historical romance. When she is not writing, she seizes every opportunity to explore ruins and battlefields.

Currently, Kelly lives in Winnipeg with her husband and two boys, all of whom are wonderfully patient with the writing process. Except, that is, when they need a goalie for street hockey.

Fall in love with the beautiful Jewel Island this summer, where the sapphire sea sparkles, the golden sun warms your skin and the islanders melt your heart. From the bestselling author of The Little Village of Happiness comes Holly Martin’s most romantic novel yet.

Aria Philips has lived on Jewel Island all of her life. Even when her sisters Clover and Skye left its stunning shores for bigger and better things, Aria stayed to help her father run their family hotel.

A year after her father’s death Aria’s done everything she can to keep things afloat but the hotel has long been struggling to make a profit. With so few guests Aria risks losing the only home she’s ever had.

Noah Campbell earned his fortune from making hotels a success, and he also just happens to be staying on Jewel Island this summer. Could he be the answer to Aria’s problems? If only he hadn’t kissed her under the willow tree the year before and never called her again. It had been the most incredible kiss of her life, but clearly business and pleasure should never be mixed.

                                MY REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Another great book by Holly Martin. She always makes you want to be in whatever town her stories take you to.
Aria Philips has lived in Sapphire Bay her whole life. Her parents started the hotel and as she grew up she started taking over the manager position. Her twin sisters moved away to have their on lives and dreams. When their dad dies Aria wants to make some changes that are needed at the hotel. But she has to wait for the reading of the will.
Noah Campbell has been a guest for several years at the hotel and they had become friends and then he up and left her right before her dad died. A year later she now knows why and they need to keep things professional between them.
These 2 each have some trust issues that is causing so many problems between them. How they handle things between each other I got a little bit but sometimes I just wanted to shake them up.
Thank you Holly Martin for the ARC to review.

Blog Tour: The Island Girls by Noelle Harrison

Book Description:

guess our life on the island was one which never fit you right. I like to imagine you some days when I look out the window across the harbour, all those miles of sea and land between us. But, sister, we are always connected.

When young nurse Emer loses her beloved sister, she is haunted by grief and desperate to escape her memories. Taking a job in Vinalhaven, a rocky outpost in the wild Atlantic, feels like the refuge she so badly needs.

Her patient, Susannah, has lived in isolation for many years, since the tragic death of her sister Kate caused her to withdraw from island life. However, when Emer discovers a bundle of letters in a rainbow quilt in her bedroom and shares the story of her own loss, Susannah opens up. She begins to tell the story of Kate’s brutal and secret past, and her marriage to a man with a heart as cold as the ocean.

But when Emer starts asking locals about Kate, the island air sizzles with hostility. There are people who would rather that Susannah kept quiet, who have no qualms about threatening Emer. But despite the warnings to stay away, Emer is determined to find out what really happened the night Kate died – and the final secret that is keeping Susannah a prisoner to the past.

An unputdownable and unforgettable story of impossible choices and two sisters who would do anything for one another. Set on a bewitching sea-scented island, The Island Girls will burrow into your heart. Perfect for fans of Lisa Wingate, Anita Shreve and The Light Between Oceans.

                                MY REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Emer is a nurse and loses her sister to cancer. She blames herself for not being there at that moment because she was to caught up in her boyfriend. So she dumps him and takes on a new job. Her patient Susannah has live in isolation in the rocky outpost of the Atlantic. She has been there ever since the tragic death of her sister Kate.
This story goes back and forth from the past to the present in each chapter, Some is the POV of Susannah now and in the past. We also get to know Emer better. While there, Emer finds a bundle of letters that Savannah had written to Kate and Kate kept them. Susannah is writing a story for her nieces, about their mother and had kept the letters Kate gave her, Now she has her letters as well. Both of these women need to let the past go. But the Islanders don't like Susannah and blame her for things that have gone wrong.
I enjoyed this book very much. Getting to know Susannah from the time she was a little girl until the present. H0w her mother treated her and how she was treated by her peers.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Book Review: Last Night With the Earl #2 by Kelly Bowen

Last Night with the Earl (The Devils of Dover, #2)

Earl. War hero. Notorious rake. After the Battle of Waterloo, Eli Dawes was presumed dead-and would have happily stayed that way. He's no longer the reckless young man he once was, and only half as pretty. All he wants is to hide away in his country home, where no one can see his scars. But when he tries to sneak into his old bedroom in the middle of the night, he's shocked to find someone already there.

Rose Hayward remembers Eli as the arrogant lord who helped her late fiancé betray her. Finding him stealing into her art studio doesn't correct her impression. Her only thought is to get him to leave immediately. Yet the tension between them is electric, and she can't help but be drawn to him. He might be back from the dead, but it's Rose who is suddenly feeling very, very much alive.

Book Review: A Duke In the Night #1 by Kelly Bowen

A Duke in the Night (The Devils of Dover, #1)

Duke. Scoundrel. Titan of business. August Faulkner is a man of many talents, not the least of which is enticing women into his bedchamber. He's known-and reviled-for buying and selling companies, accumulating scads of money, and breaking hearts. It's a reputation he wears like a badge of honor, and one he intends to keep.

Clara Hayward, the headmistress of the Haverhall School for Young Ladies, on the other hand, is above reproach. Yet when she's reunited with August all she can think of is the way she felt in his arms as they danced a scandalous waltz ten long years ago. Even though her head knows that he is only back in her life to take over her family's business, her heart can't help but open to the very duke who could destroy it for good.

                            MY REVIEW:

A Duke in the Night (The Devils of Dover, #1)A Duke in the Night by Kelly Bowen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Clara and August met 10 years ago had a scandalous waltz 10 years ago and never saw each other again.
Now they have run into each other again. Clara is running a school for Young Ladies that have the skills than just to be a wife and mother.
August is a Duke and has many businesses. He also is looking out for his sister.
I really liked these 2 characters very much and you couldn't help laugh at them and their bickering as you know they each have feelings for each other.
