As NY Lt. Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband Roarke are driving home, a young woman—dazed, naked, and bloody—suddenly stumbles out in front of their car. Roarke slams on the brakes and Eve springs into action.

Daphne Strazza is rushed to the ER, but it’s too late for her husband Dr. Anthony Strazza. A brilliant orthopedic surgeon, he now lies dead amid the wreckage of his obsessively organized town house, his three safes opened and emptied. Daphne would be a valuable witness, but in her terror and shock the only description of the perp she can offer is repeatedly calling him “the devil”...

While it emerges that Dr. Strazza was cold, controlling, and widely disliked, this is one case where the evidence doesn’t point to the spouse. So Eve and her team must get started on the legwork, interviewing everyone from dinner-party guests to professional colleagues to caterers, in a desperate race to answer some crucial questions:

What does the devil look like? And where will he show up next?

                       My REVIEW:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke are driving home when a naked woman jumps in front of her car. They take her to hospital but later find out her husband was dead. She keeps saying it was the devil . As we go through this book we find out there were similar cases but no one was murdered. Eve can not figure out who the person is doing all of this. I thought it was someone from the beginning but I was totally wrong.

Secrets in Death (In Death, #45)

The chic Manhattan nightspot Du Vin is not the kind of place Eve Dallas would usually patronize, and it’s not the kind of bar where a lot of blood gets spilled. But that’s exactly what happens one cold February evening.

The mortally wounded woman is Larinda Mars, a self-described “social information reporter,” or as most people would call it, a professional gossip. As it turns out, she was keeping the most shocking stories quiet, for profitable use in her side business as a blackmailer. Setting her sights on rich, prominent marks, she’d find out what they most wanted to keep hidden and then bleed them dry. Now someone’s done the same to her, literally—with a knife to the brachial artery.

Eve didn’t like Larinda Mars. But she likes murder even less. To find justice for this victim, she’ll have to plunge into the dirty little secrets of all the people Larinda Mars victimized herself. But along the way, she may be exposed to some information she really didn’t want to know…

                                     MY REVIEW:

Secrets in Death (In Death, #45)Secrets in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Eve is not the type to be in a bar but she is there when Larinda Mars is murdered. Larinda is a social information reporter and she is always up for gossip and is not liked by many. As we find out she has been blackmailing people to keep their stories quiet. Things they don't want the world to know.
I could not believe the amount of people she had blackmailed and why. Also how she even got some of her info on people was puzzling. Eve will try to keep their secrets quiet while uncovering the murderer.

Dark in Death (In Death, #46)

It was a stab in the dark.

On a chilly February night, during a screening of Psycho in midtown, someone sunk an ice pick into the back of Chanel Rylan’s neck, then disappeared quietly into the crowds of drunks and tourists in Times Square. To Chanel’s best friend, who had just slipped out of the theater for a moment to take a call, it felt as unreal as the ancient black-and-white movie up on the screen. But Chanel’s blood ran red, and her death was anything but fictional.

Then, as Eve Dallas puzzles over a homicide that seems carefully planned and yet oddly personal, she receives a tip from an unexpected source: an author of police thrillers who recognizes the crime—from the pages of her own book. Dallas doesn’t think it’s coincidence, since a recent strangulation of a sex worker resembles a scene from her writing as well. Cops look for patterns of behavior: similar weapons, similar MOs. But this killer seems to find inspiration in someone else’s imagination, and if the theory holds, this may be only the second of a long-running series.

The good news is that Eve and her billionaire husband Roarke have an excuse to curl up in front of the fireplace with their cat, Galahad, reading mystery stories for research. The bad news is that time is running out before the next victim plays an unwitting role in a murderer’s deranged private drama—and only Eve can put a stop to a creative impulse gone horribly, destructively wrong.

Dark in Death (In Death, #46)Dark in Death by J.D. Robb

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
During a screening of Psycho Chanel Rylan is murdered. When her friend sits down next to her she is shocked. As Eve is investigating this murder she gets a call from an author. This is just like the book she wrote. More things seem to happen which comes from the books and Eve is trying to find out who is doing this before anyone else is hurt.

Twisted Twenty-Six (Stephanie Plum, #26)

Stephanie Plum's career has taken more wrong turns than a student driver on the Jersey Turnpike, and her love life is a hopeless tangle. In order to save someone dear to her, she'll have to straighten things out in Twisted Twenty-Six the latest, novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Janet Evanovich.

It's a sad day, but if she can't have Jimmy at least Grandma can have all the attention she wants as the dutiful widow. But some kinds of attention are not welcomed, particularly when Jimmy's former "business partners" are convinced that his widow is keeping the keys to their financial success for herself.

MY REVIEW:

I got this audiobook through my library.
Stephanie's Grandma Mazur is married again and it lasted 45 minutes. She married a local gangster , lothario. Her life is in jeopardy when his business partners thinks she has the keys to their financial success. You have all kinds of women who have it out for Grandma Mazur as well. Book Review: Delusion in Death #35 - J.D. Robb

Delusion in Death (In Death, #35)

After years on the force, Eve Dallas didn't think she could be shocked anymore... until now.

It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving.

Then the madness descended. And after twelve minutes of chaos and violence, eighty people lay dead.

Eve Dallas is trying to sort out the inexplicable events. Surviving witnesses talk about seeing things—monsters and swarms of bees. They describe sudden, overwhelming feelings of fear and rage and paranoia. When forensics makes its report, the mass delusions make more sense: it appears the bar patrons were exposed to a cocktail of chemicals and illegal drugs that could drive people to temporary insanity—if not kill them outright.

But that doesn't explain who would unleash such horror—or why. Eve's husband, Roarke, happens to own the bar, yet he's convinced the attack wasn't directed at him. It's bigger than that. And if Eve can't figure it out fast, it could happen again, anytime, anywhere. Because it's airborne...

                                        MY REVIEW:

Delusion in Death (In Death, #35)Delusion in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
There is a bar where everyone unwinds after work and then all of a sudden everything turns terrifying, LT Eve Dallas and her team is trying to find out what happened. In a matter of minutes 80 people are dead and a few with major injuries. After talking to survivors on what happened and what they had felt while in the bar, so many questions arise. How can she keep this from happening again. They talk about monsters and other weird things that were seen. It seems some kind of chemical was out in the bar to cause all this but who would do that and why?
Another great book for the series.

A diabolical enemy

When the assailants abduct Sara, Will goes undercover to save her and prevent a massacre—putting his own life on the line for the woman and the country he loves

                                   MY REVIEW:

The Last Widow (Will Trent, #9)The Last Widow by Karin Slaughter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Wow! The book starts out with a woman being kidnapped, right in front of her daughter. She is a scientist at the Center of Disease Control.
A month later Medical Examiner Sara and her partner Will hear and feel an explosion and go to check it out as it looks like it as it the University. They come upon a car accident and Sara is abducted in front of Will. Will is devastated and Sara's mom seems to blame him.
Will is an investigator and is working with his team to find out what has happened to Sara.
What we see is a horrible situation and a man who is playing god.
Will feels like he isn't good enough for Sara and she has money. They both seem to want the same thing but really need to talk things through once he finds her.
There is trigger of rape and mention of child abuse.
I received this from Edelweiss and William Morrow for review.

Book Review: Celebrity in Death by JD Robb

Celebrity in Death (In Death #34)

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is no party girl, but she’s managing to have a reasonably good time at the celebrity-packed bash celebrating The Icove Agenda, a film based on one of her famous cases. It’s a little spooky seeing the actress playing her, who looks almost like her long-lost twin. Not as unsettling, though, as seeing the actress who plays Peabody—drowned in the lap pool on the roof of the director’s luxury building. Talented but rude, and widely disliked, K. T. Harris had made an embarrassing scene during dinner. Now she’s at the center of a crime scene—and Eve is more than ready to get out of her high heels and strap on her holster, to step into the role she was born to play: cop.

MY REVIEW:

Celebrity in Death (In Death #34)Celebrity in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
There is a movie being made from Nadine's book about a case that Eve Dallas and her partner Peabody had solved. Eve and Peabody are both freaked out when 2 actresses are made to look just like them. They are at a party for a viewing of the movie when the actress playing Peabody is found drowned in the pool. K.T. Harris is not really liked by anyone. She is a very mean and conniving person. No one seems to miss her but Eve and Peabody are determined to find out if it was an accident or murder.
I have always like the relationship between Eve and Peabody even though Eve sounds like such a badass. Plus with her hot husband Roarke you never know what is going to happen.
I am trying to get caught up on this series.

Book Review: Fantasy In Death #30 by J.D. Robb

Fantasy in Death (In Death, #30)

Bart Minnock, founder of the computer-gaming giant U-Play, enters his private playroom, and eagerly can't wait to lose himself in an imaginary world, to play the role of a sword-wielding warrior king, in his company's latest top-secret project, Fantastical.

The next morning, he is found in the same locked room, in a pool of blood, his head separated from his body. It is the most puzzling case Eve Dallas has ever faced, and it is not a game. . . .

NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas is having as much trouble figuring out how Bart Minnock was murdered as who did the murdering. The victim's girlfriend seems sincerely grief-stricken, and his quirky-but-brilliant partners at U-Play appear equally shocked. No one seemed to have a prob-lem with the enthusiastic, high-spirited millionaire. Of course, success can attract jealousy, and gaming, like any business, has its fierce rivalries and dirty tricks-as Eve's husband, Roarke, one of U- Play's competitors, knows well. But Minnock was not naive, and quite capable of fighting back in the real world as well as the virtual one.

Eve and her team are about to enter the next level of police work, in a world where fantasy is the ultimate seduction-and the price of defeat is death. . .

                                MY REVIEW:

Fantasy in Death (In Death, #30)Fantasy in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Bart Minnock is a founder of a gaming company called U-Play. He goes home after work to lose himself in a game and doesn't come out again. The next morning he is found dead in his locked room. He had been decapitated. His girlfriend is grief stricken and Lieutenant Eve Dallas is trying to figure out who and why. His best friends who also all seem to own part of the company all are devastated. He is liked by everyone and no one seems to have a grudge against him. I think this was my favorite book of this series so far. I liked the gaming concept in this book and all the virtual worlds and V goggles. Also still getting to know all the cops and characters from this series. Even though Eve is a no nonsense kick ass cop she still has feelings and love for her people.

Book Review: Kindred In Death by J.D. Robb

Kindred in Death (In Death, #29)When the newly promoted captain of the NYPSD and his wife return a day early from their vacation, they were looking forward to spending time with their bright and vivacious sixteen-year-old daughter who had stayed behind.

Not even their worst nightmares could have prepared them for the crime scene that awaited them instead. Brutally murdered in her bedroom, Deena's body showed signs of trauma that horrified even the toughest of cops; including our own Lieutenant Eve Dallas, who was specifically requested by the captain to investigate.

When the evidence starts to pile up, Dallas and her team think they are about to arrest their perpetrator; little do they know yet that someone has gone to great lengths to tease and taunt them by using a variety of identities. Overconfidence can lead to careless mistakes. But for Dallas, one mistake might be all she needs to bring justice.

                           MY THOUGHTS:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Another great book for the series. As Eve is supposed to be getting ready for her friend's wedding another murder pops up. This is a 16 year old who is brutally murdered in her bedroom. Her parents came home early from vacation and found her. You could feel the grief of these parents and the book goes into detail of her rape and murder. It makes you want to reach through the book and hold the parents. The murderer is very clever and seems to have many identities which makes it hard to catch him. But Eve never gives up and as a hard nosed bitch of a cop she lets no one and nothing get to her. Also the sex between her husband makes the pages sizzle. No matter how tired or how mad they are their love seems to hold them up.

Book Review: Promises In Death by J.D. Robb

Promises in Death (In Death, #28)

Amarylis Coltraine may have recently transferred to the New York City police force from Atlanta, but she's been a cop long enough to know how to defend herself against an assailant. When she's taken down just steps away from her apartment, killed with her own weapon, for Eve the victim isn't just 'one of us.'

Dallas's friend Chief Medical Examiner Morris and Coltraine had started a serious relationship, and from all accounts the two were headed for a happy future together. But someone has put an end to all that. After breaking the news to Morris, Eve starts questioning everyone from Coltraine's squad, informants, and neighbors, while Eve's husband, Roarke, digs into computer data on Coltraine's life back in Atlanta. To their shock, they discover a connection between this case and their own painful, shadowy pasts.

The truth will need to be uncovered one layer at a time, starting with the box that arrives at Cop Central addressed to Eve containing Coltraine's guns, badge, and a note from her killer: 'You can have them back. Maybe someday soon, I'll be sending yours to somebody else.'

But Eve Dallas doesn't take too kindly to personal threats, and she is going to break this case, whatever it takes. And that's a promise.

Promises in Death (In Death, #28)Promises in Death by J.D. Robb
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
ANother great book of this series. Amarylis Coltraine is a cop in NY, after being transferred from Atlanta. She is killed in her apartment building with her own weapons.Chief Medical examiner, Morris, had a relationship with her and is devastated and wants justice for her murder. As Dallas and Peabody investigate her murder they also question the squad she works for and some do not like being questioned. We also find out that Amarylis had a 2 year relationship with someone in Atlanta before she moved to NY. Not only that but the man ended up coming to NY. So maybe he wasn't quiet done with her.
During this time Dallas is also supposed to be helping a friend with her bachlorette party and bridal shower. Which if you are a fan of this series you know she does not do girly things like this. So much fun watching her squirm during this time as well.

Book Review: Salvation In Death by J.D. Robb

Salvation in Death (In Death, #27)

Seconds after partaking of wine during a Catholic funeral mass, Father Miguel Flores is dead on the altar. Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas confirms that the consecrated wine contained enough potassium cyanide to kill a rhino. And though the East Harlem neighborhood is a long way from the stone mansion she shares with her billionaire husband Roarke, it’s the holiness flying around St. Christobal’s that makes her uneasy.

The autopsy reveals faint scars of knife wounds, a removed tattoo—and evidence of plastic surgery suggesting “Father Flores” may not be the man his parishioners thought. Now, as Eve pieces together clues that suggest identity theft, gang connections, and a deeply personal act of revenge, she hopes to track down whoever committed this unholy act. Until a second murder—in front of an even larger crowd of worshippers—knocks the whole investigation sideways…

MY THOUGHTS:

Another great book. #27 in the series. A priest dies at the altar during a funeral. Who could have done such a thing? Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds that the wine he drank had cyanide in it. Upon investigating we find out that maybe he wasn't the man everyone thought he was. They found he had a tattoo removed and had facial surgery. Then a second murder happens with another religious person. Is there someone out there going after churches? Meantime Eve is supposed to be getting ready for a bridal shower and you know her, she doesn't like girly things lol.

Review: Strangers In Death by J. D. Robb

Strangers in Death (In Death, #26)In 2060 New York, some murders still get more attention than others, especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman, found in his Park Avenue apartment, tied to the bed—and strangled with cords of black velvet. Fortunately, homicide cop Lieutenant Eve Dallas's billionaire husband, Roarke, happens to own the prime real estate where Thomas Anders's sporting-goods firm is headquartered, giving her some help with access. Before long, she's knocking on doors—and barging through them—to look for the answers she needs.

But some things don't add up—and everyone's alibi checks out, from the wife who was off in the tropics to the nephew who stood to inherit millions. Was this a crime of passion—or a carefully planned execution? It's up to Dallas to solve this sensational case in which those who seem to be intimates sometimes guard secrets from each other—and strangers may be connected in unexpected, and deadly, ways. . . .

My Thoughts:

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is the 26th book in the series. It has been a few years since I read the last book and once I picked this one up I remembered all the characters in it and their personalities. This is set in 2060 , NY city. A very wealthy man is found dead in his apartment. Strangled with ropes and all kinds of sex devices. The first suspect ,of course, is the wife , who has an alibi. Anders is the man murdered and he owns a sporting good firm. They help children go to camps and get sporting equipment. While his wife meets and greets the mothers of these children. After much investigating things just aren't as rosy as they seem. I have always loved the dynamics between Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her multi billionaire husband Roarke. Their past and who they are today. Eve can be quite a tough bitch but can help a stranger in return. I will continue to keep reading because I am invested in these characters and have missed them so much.
