Book Review: A Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell

A Stranger on the Beach

There is a stranger outside Caroline's house.

Her spectacular new beach house, built for hosting expensive parties and vacationing with the family she thought she'd have. But her husband is lying to her and everything in her life is upside down, so when the stranger, Aiden, shows up as a bartender at the same party where Caroline and her husband have a very public fight, it doesn't seem like anything out of the ordinary.

As her marriage collapses around her and the lavish lifestyle she's built for herself starts to crumble, Caroline turns to Aiden for comfort...and revenge. After a brief and desperate fling that means nothing to Caroline and everything to him, Aiden's obsession with Caroline, her family, and her house grows more and more disturbing. And when Caroline's husband goes missing, her life descends into a nightmare that leaves her accused of her own husband's murder.

A Stranger on the BeachA Stranger on the Beach by Michele Campbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What a roller coaster of events.
Caroline just had a beach house built but her husband is never there. Now it seems he is having an affair. She notices a stranger staring up at her house and she does confront him. He is Aiden and he ends up showing up again as a bartender for the housewarming party she is throwing. It is also for her husband't birthday and he says he can't make it. But then he does show up with a Russian woman in tow and all he tells Caroline is she need to get a divorce from him and he will give her the house and the apartment and money. She ends up turning to Aiden for revenge and to feel better about herself. But she didn't count on a one night stand turning into possessiveness and stalking on his part. Even when she goes to the police there isn't anything they can do because he hasn't threatened her. When you go back and forth to the events that happened then you see a story that she says and then you get into his head on what is happening.
Then Caroline's husband is murdered and Aiden looks like the #1 suspect. But things aren't always as they seem.
While reading this I kept yelling at Caroline to just come clean with her husband about the one night stand. That would have made things a whole lot better. Or so I thought.
I received this from St. Martin's for review.
