Book review: Heart of Glass by Nicola Jacquelyn

Paperback, 368 pages

The next standalone novel from Nicole Jacquelyn about love, friendship, and forgiveness.
Henry Harris was living his dream as a staff sergeant in the Marines. When he's killed in action, his devastated family is in for one more shock: he had a daughter they never knew about.
Morgan Riley has been raising Etta on her own, and that's always been fine by her - until Henry's brother Trevor arrives on her doorstep, willing to do anything to help and make up for his brother's mistakes. Their attraction feels wrong, but Morgan can't seem to turn him away.
Trevor is suddenly in too deep. He has always wanted a family, but Etta and Morgan come with complications. Yet as Etta brings them closer together, Trevor begins to imagine giving Morgan and Etta the life his brother never could. But he wonders if Morgan will ever learn to trust another man with her heart, especially a man whose last name is Harris.

                                                         MY REVIEW:

Heart of Glass
Heart of Glass by Nicole Jacquelyn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Even though this is the 3rd book of a series I felt that it read like a standalone.
Henry Harris is in the service and when he dies his family finds out he had a daughter. A daughter Henry didn't have anything to do with.
Morgan Riley has been raising their daughter,Etta, all on her own and now Henry's brother, Trevor, arrives on her doorstep asking to be apart of Etta's life. There is an attraction between Morgan and Trevor and Trevor feels guilty as Morgan was his brother's ex. Morgan doesn't see it that way as she and Henry really didn't have feelings for each other. Henry's family can't wait to meet Etta and Morgan feels that Etta should meet her grandparents and other family members.
What we find out about the Harris family is that the parents took in foster children and had adopted Henry and Trevor but there are so many others out there that they treat like family.
This book pulled at my heart for so many reasons. Etta never knowing her father and now getting to know his family. Morgan and Trevor wanting to be together but Trevor and Morgan have things pulling them apart. Not to mention Trevor's parents who have a hard time with everything.
I received this book from Forever for review.

Nicole Jacquelyn is the mom of two little girls and a full time college student. She hasn’t watched television in well over a year, she still does things that drive her mother crazy, and she loves to read. At eight years old, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she told people she wanted to be a mom. When she was twelve her answer changed- to author. By the time she was eighteen, when people asked her what she wanted to do with her life, she told them she really wanted to be a writer- but the odds of that happening were so slim that she’d get her business degree “just to be safe”. Her dreams stayed constant. First she became a mom, then she went to college, and during her senior year- with one daughter in first grade and the other in preschool, she sat down and wrote a story.
