Book Review: Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks

Every Breath

In the romantic tradition of The Notebook and Nights in Rodanthe, #1 New York Times bestselling author Nicholas Sparks returns with a story about a chance encounter that becomes a touchstone for two vastly different individuals -- transcending decades, continents, and the bittersweet workings of fate.

Hope Anderson is at a crossroads. At thirty-six, she's been dating her boyfriend, an orthopedic surgeon, for six years. With no wedding plans in sight, and her father recently diagnosed with ALS, she decides to use a week at her family's cottage in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to ready the house for sale and mull over some difficult decisions about her future.

Tru Walls has never visited North Carolina but is summoned to Sunset Beach by a letter from a man claiming to be his father. A safari guide, born and raised in Zimbabwe, Tru hopes to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding his mother's early life and recapture memories lost with her death. When the two strangers cross paths, their connection is as electric as it is unfathomable . . . but in the immersive days that follow, their feelings for each other will give way to choices that pit family duty against personal happiness in devastating ways.

Illuminating life's heartbreaking regrets and enduring hope, Every Breath explores the many facets of love that lay claim to our deepest loyalties -- and asks the question, How long can a dream survive?

Every BreathEvery Breath by Nicholas Sparks
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great read by Nicholas Sparks. I could not put this down.
Hope is 36 and has been with her boyfriend for 6 years. She wants to get married and have kids and he keeps putting it off and still not acting like a grown up. Still going out with his friends all the time over being with her. They have an off again, on again relationship. This time she is in her friend's wedding and he takes off to go to Vegas with his friends and says they need a break. She alreasy knows he will cheat and so she has a lot to think about while away for her friend's wedding.
Tru is from Africa and receives a letter from a man saying he is Tru's biological father and even has plane tickets for him and a place to stay in South Carolina.
Tru is hoping to find out what he can about his mother since she died when he was 11 years old and his stepfather and stepbrothers don't have anything to do with him and his grand father didn't seem to be such a nice person.
Tru and Hope meet on the beach and they form a friendship in just a few short days and fall for each other. But Hope's ex wants her back and even proposed to her. She is confused as she really would like to be with Tru but he lives in Africa and has a son there. Hope's family is here and she wants kids of her own which Tru can't give her.
I had so many emotions reading this book and in typical Nicholas Sparks fashion you will be crying by the end of the book.
I received this from Forever for review.
