Temperance watched her father die right before her eyes and said she will get revenge on those who killed him. She happens to come upon a man who was left to die and she nurses him back to good health. The attraction starts between them no matter how much they fight it. Cailean though had promised himself to never love again or get close to anyone again. He also has secrets that he need to tell Temperance but knows if he does she will most likely kill him.Temperance is supposed to marry her best friend, William , but she doesn't love him. William also does not love her but they will marry to keep her safe since the Lord's son wants her as his own, Duncan is not a good man and Temperance is doing everything she can not to marry him.
I loved the dialogue in this book. Also reading about the cooking and aromas in the kitchen made my mouth water lol. Temperance and her dad lived in a house with her Gram so it is just the 2 of them now and they both will die for each other.
