a WIP and a new finish

Yesterday I stitched a little bit on Quilt Sampler. I know I want this finished as a pillow but I don't know how to do a ruffled edge which I would love for this piece. I believe it will be a Christmas gift for my MIL.

This is Spooky Tree by Elizabeth Designs from the JCS October 2008 issue. I used Weeks Dye Works and Gentle Art Sampler Threads. The only thing that is missing are the 2 bat buttons that are supposed to be in the 2 top corners. I don't have them and didn't have anything in my stash that would work instead. So I will have to buy them

I also watch Horton Hears a Who (yes I still like children movies)
Nascar - congrats to Kyle Bush for the win

I love your Quilt Sampler, it is so colorful and your stitching is just beautiful. If you can make a pillow, you can make the ruffled edge. There is really nothing to it at all. E-mail me and I'll write the directions out for you, it really is super easy!!

Love the way Quilt sampler is coming along! I think the ruffled edge would be great on that.
If you didn't want to fuss with it, you could always buy some ready made ruffled edge. I have seem it in almost every color.

Shelleen - I have 2 bat charms - purple and black - that were sent to me as extras in an exchange. I'm not one for Halloween stitching, so if you want them, I'm happy to send them to you. E-mail me at andreaholme at clearwire dot net.

Also, check about.com's sewing section to see if they have instructions on creating a ruffled edge. That's my first stop for new techniques, and their message board members are very helpful. If they don't know how, they'll direct you to the right place.

Boy, I'm a problem solver today! LOL beautiful work so far!

I have found this book to be essential for finishing. It does tell you how to make a ruffle edged pillow!

Very colorful WIP. I am new to the world of stitching and have been browsing various blogs to try and gain some knowledge and get some tips / ideas. I originally started with a stamped, then counted “kits”. I’m working on my 2nd chart and have noticed some big differences in floss types and quality.
My Cross Stitch Mentor has told me that I’m ready to graduate from Aida, but I really like Aida. Maybe it’s just beginner’s comfort???
If you would answer my question… What type of fabric or fabrics do you prefer and why? Brands and counts?
I would appreciate any advice, thanks!
