Finishing is done

I managed to get all of my Halloween and October finishes done by 6pm Saturday night. Here is a pic of everything. There is about 13 finishes.

The haunted house done on the back fabric I finished into a cube. and used the fabric that I received in a Halloween exchange and the ribbon was some that was leftover from last year. The banner is made out of Mill Hill kits that was my RR a few years ago. I had them stitched on this fabric instead of the perforated paper.
The pillow on the right was actually an idea I got from a craft mag. I sewed the Halloween design onto the front piece of fabric. Then I cut the same fabric for the back and I had a pillow form so instead of sewing the pieces together, I laid the front piece on front and the back piece on the back and then took ribbon and just tied the corners together and there you go. The only sewing I did was making edges neat and the cross stitch piece to the fabric front. In front of it is a spring MH weathervane that I had stitched for an online friend , about a year ago. So that is now done and I will send it to her.
This little Pumpkin fob was stitched from a class that I took, in MB, last year with M Designs. I already have quite a few pumpkin and halloween fobs so I will be giving this away to a blog reader. All you have to do to get entered to win is to leave a post here between today and this Thursday, October 9 by 10 pm est. I will then draw a name and will send it out to you.

I have decided to have a finishing weekend every month and hope you will join in. Either online or at my house. I will post dates this week.

A big thank you to Ruth for giving me this idea.

Some finishes already

I am not posting pics until Sunday night. I got home early as it was dead at work. So I cleaned the house and then got 2 tables set up with sewing machine, ott lite, and glue gun. One table had everything all set up with how I wanted to finish things. Figuring out how I wanted to finish things took a while. I have 4 things done already. I have done a cube, 2 pin keeps and a small bulletin board for Lizzie Kate's Flip Its from a couple of years ago. All of the other projects that i will be finishing all have to be sewn so I have fabric to cut and pin. I have to kind of cover everything up though as I keep finding the one cat, Rascal, laying on top of everything.
I will post again tomorrow night on how tomorrow's finishing went.

shopping for finishing

Starting tomorrow it is a finishing weekend. I do have a basket with a couple of fabrics and added pins and ribbon, batting and stuffing. But I wanted some more so I went shopping. I went to Joanne's Etc and then to A. C. Moore. This is everything that I bought. Yes, I have been wanting the Gingher scissors called freedom and they were on clearance so I bought them. I saw on someone elses blog the cute big clothespin and I saw it in the dollar bin so I bought that and of course a box. I have done a couple of boxes last Christmas. So this weekend is to finish anything Halloween and October. Then if I have time I will do a few Christmas ornies. I probably have around 50 that need to be finished LOL.

So who is joining me this weekend?

I want to thank those of you who read my blog and post comments. I appreciate it. I am hoping that more read but just don't post comments :-)

stitching away

I have been stitching on Ruth's RR and watching TV. I watched General Hospital, Bones, and Private Practice. I also pulled out the stitching plans for October and the scissors for the month and the Halloween fob. I love scissors and collect them so I plan on having a pair for every month. The ones that I want to get are I believe called Glory by Gingher.
I also have a basket of all Halloween and October pieces that I want to finish this weekend and all Halloween fabric and I believe I will get some more tomorrow after work. Maybe some extra floss for braiding. Anyone joining me this weekend on finishes?

stitching away

on Ruth's RR. So no pics. But I am enjoying stitching on it.
I watched yesterday's and today's episodes of General Hospital. Then I watched tonight's episode of 90210. Not much else going on here today.

My house is still open for those of you who would like to do some finishes, this weekend.

I got mail

Got home from work and what did I find waiting in my mailbox? My HOE Halloween Exchange from April. Thank you so much. The charts are really cute and love that fabric. Am going to hang up the ornaments this week.

Then I received the 3 mags that I ordered from Down Sunshine Lane . Thank you so much Amy! Now to decide when and how to get any of the stitching done in any of these mags LOL.

I didn't get in any stitching today as I picked up Dylan from school, when he was done with Drivers Ed. Then we went to the Mall so he could get some new clothes. Then by the time I got on here and ready emails, BBs and blogs I am now ready to hit the bed :-)

busy weekend

I had a pretty busy weekend. Saturday morning I worked at the church making soup. Then I did get some stitching time in on TW The Storyteller. Next weekend I won't be working on it.

We had a family reunion today with Scott's side. I haven't seen his Aunts, Uncles or cousins in a few years and was nice seeing them again. Ate a little to much as there was a lot of food.
I am starting an incentive stitching piece. This is Peace, Love, Joy & Life Quilt Sampler. It is out of Cross Country Stitching issue June 2008. I am stitching it 1 over 1 on 25 ct. Lugana. It is a SAL with a online group.

While stitching on it I watched Smallville, Supernatural , and Desperate Housewives.

I love to have candles burning and tarts as well. So I thought I would share what I had burning for the day. The candle in the family room was Spiced Apple by Home & Garden , which is a party plan. I had a Yankee Candle tart burning in the living room and that was Meadow Mist.
I also though I would share my hot tea. I don't drink it in the summertime but love a couple of cups in the cool evenings. So tonights was Bigelow Decaf Red raspberry. I have a full box of this.

Tomorrow, after work, I am taking Dylan shopping for some clothes. Then checking out BJs and Sam's Club to decide on what membership I want. My boss pays for most of it. I do have a 60 day free trial from BJs. It came in the mail yesterday so I checked out the one by where I work but I think it is smaller than the one in the city so I will check that one out since it is by the mall and Sam's Club is right down the road.

If I get a chance to stitch tomorrow it will be on Ruth's RR.

changes

Have you ever read other blogs that gave you inspiration? I have had a few the past couple of days. First was Becky's Blog and her finishes and her way of sorting her stash. I have so many projects kitted up that I like her idea of sorting them into small, medium, and large and then rotating on getting them done. I am always in awe of her blog.
Next is Ruth's blog . She is having a finishing weekend next weekend and asked anyone who wants to join in. So I have a lot of October and Halloween pieces stitched up and need finishing. So I am asking all of my readers to join in on this and my house is open all next weekend for anyone that is not to far from me to come join me at my house, and bring all your finished items. I believe that I will do this the first weekend of every month and my house will always be open whether you want to put your pieces into finishes or just bring your cross stitching. I am in western NY and if interested email me needeler @ gmail dot com without the spaces of course.
For finishing ideas and tutorials visit Focus on Finishing blog . This is a great site and very helpful.

As for me this weekend and everyone that has posted about my health. I am fine. I had some sinus issues which always kick my butt but I am much better now. Thank you so much for your concerns. I mailed out 2 exchanges but never took pics before I mailed them. Today I worked at our church. I had to make soup as this weekend is the AppleUmpkin Festival. There were quite a few people there. Tomorrow is Scott's family reunion. I am also stitching once in a while on TW The Storyteller. I will share pics tomorrow night.

Speaking of tomorrow night. Don't forget it is the season premier of Desperate Housewives. I will definitely be watching that.

tired

I haven't felt well all week. Not exactly sick feeling just blah and tired. So I left work an hour early and came home to sleep but no one would let me sleep so I gave up.
I was reading my friend Becky's blog and was inspired by what she does with her finishes and her organizing. I have been down trying to figure out how to get more of my stitching done and reading of my books. I just wish that I could have a craft room to be organized lol.
I have been stitching on RRs. I finished 1 and am working on another one and have one more here. They are all for the same RR.
Tomorrow I am going to Joanne's Etc. so I can get some of the pretty pins to do pinkeeps and am hoping that they have Halloween colors. I also need to get some rickrack or ribbon as well.
I just found out that there is a Hobby Lobby not to far from me. Guess I will be making a trip there in a few weeks :-)

A stitchy weekend

I finished the Halloween exchange and stitched on a RR all weekend and will have it done tomorrow and probably have about 30 minutes left to stitch on it. Then I have 2 more to do. I did watch a lot of TV.

Tv:
General Hospital
Bones
Supernatural
90210
Smallville
True Blood
Movies:
Prom Night
A perfect Day

I am almost done listening to In the Dark of the Night by John Saul. I have about 1 1/4 more CDs to listen to.
I met Gayle on my blog when she posted here a couple of weeks ago. We emailed a few times and have talked on the phone. She lives about 7 miles from my house so we are having a stitching get together tomorrow, when I get out of work. Can't wait to meet her :-)

some pics

I stitched on TW The Storyteller, over the weekend. I didn't get quite as much stitched on it as I would have liked but a little bit is better than nothing.
Today I received my halloween exchange from Angela (tweetybird61) through Cross Stitch Pals it is a ornament and a really cute pin that I just love. Thank you so much!!

Right now I am stitching on an exchange for another board.

I am listening to the audiobook In the Dark of the Night by John Saul and am hooked on it.

have also been watching TV. Sunday night was another episode of True Blood on HBO. I did like this episode better than the 1st one. I had written down that House was on tonight but I wrote down 9pm instead of 8pm and missed it and to watch it on FOX.com I have to wait 8 days :-(

Rainy & cool

My kind of temps today but could have done without the rain. Sunday which means had to pick up coffee from the Yellow Goose for DH as he was working. Then I got groceries. Alex unloaded my car so I could put the groceries away and fix breakfast for him and Justin. They left for the day so I did dishes, laundry and finished 1 Halloween exchange and started another. I also watched TV. A Little bit of The Weather channel to keep up on Hurricane Ike.
Then I watched a DVD Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day. It was a fun movie to watch and not something that I normally would watch. Then I have quite a few movies on my DVR so I watched The Haunting of Sorority Row that was on the Lifetime Movie Network, last Fall. That was really good.
Tonight I watched True Blood on HBO. It was ok. I love the books and I really didn't think Sookie acted like such a blonde airhead in the books. This is not for anyone thinking it is PG. There is sex, and swearing, violence. I did DVR it so Justin and Alex can watch it here next weekend. Justin went back to his dorm tonight and Alex went home and doesn't have HBO.

Tomorrow I have a Bookcrossing meeting at Panera Bread and I have a few books to give away. Well goodnight everyone and I hope to post again tomorrow.

Fantasy stitching

I stitch The Storyteller by Teresa Wentzler on Fridays with another Blog group. But this past Friday was so busy at work that I couldn't even pick up a needle so I pulled it out yesterday. This is so slow moving because of all the color changes but stitching a little bit once a week is better than just sitting in the mesh bag til whenever.

Today I plan on stitching on a Halloween exchange and watching movies. Tonight on HBO at 9pm est is the new series Tru Blood based on the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris.

My thoughts and prayers are with those of you affected by tropical Storm Hannah and Hurricane Ike.

You would never guess what happened yesterday. For weeks everyone has been posting about the JCS Halloween issue and the Cross Stitch & Needleworks mag with the Nora Corbett Halloween Fairy. Well since I have heard about them I have searched all over for these mags, everywheres that i go. So I finally gave up and ordered them from Down Sunshine Lane . Well wouldn't you know that my grocery store just got them in on friday.
I almost bought them anyways and give the other ones to a friend but I was good and will wait.

some stitching but no pics

I am stitching on exchanges so i can't show any progress pics. I am stitching for 2 Halloween exchanges.

Rachel , thanks for the help with post dating. I did that 3 times last night and all it kept telling me is it would be published on the day I had postdated and would not show up on my blog. It worked tonight though.

Gayle , I emailed you again and maybe my emails are going in your junk folder as it doesn't recognize my email addy? anyways you can email me needeler@gmail.com

Anyone watch the new 90210 that was on the CW? it was the 2 hour premier. Justin had to work after classes so he came home and watched it with me before heading to his dorm. it was pretty good.
I also watched today's episode of General Hospital.

Tomorrow Dylan starts his Junior year in High School. Where does the time go?

help

I can't remember how to postdate a post so it stays at the top. I have done it twice but it won't work this time aauugghhh!!! anyone?

haven't felt like stitching

since last Tuesday. Wednesday my little grey cat, who is a year old, snuck out on me and I couldn't get him back in the house. So my sis and I sat down to eat and heard a noise outside. She asked what that was and I said I hope not Speedy. I look out the window and sure enough he had been hit by a car. I have been trying to keep most of my cats indoors because they end up getting hit. Even though we are in the country. he has been my companion for a year. We got him the Friday before Labor Day , last year. He sleeps around my neck and follows me all around the house. I am having a really hard time with this and trouble with sleeping. Have not been in a mood to do anything. One of my other cats misses him because they played together all the time. It was a young man that hit the cat and I only know that because he turned around and came here to apologize. He was driving a pick up truck with a wagon attached to it and he tried avoiding the cat but the wagon got him. I told him that it was an accident and my sister told him that it was nice of him to come back and tell us. it is just not the same around this house without him. None of my other cats are lap cats or as lovey as he was.

Today I decided to pull out my stitching and start Glory Bee's BYOB (Bring Your Own Broom) and not sure if others were joining me as a SAL. I think it will be a quick stitch. But starting tomorrow I do have to start stitching for 2 Halloween exchanges so I will work on this again when they are done.

This weekend on VH1 classics it was 80 hours of the 80's so I kept watching that and the weather channel to keep updated on Hurricane Gustav and Hannah. My prayers go out to all of you affected by this storm.

Gail - I have emailed you twice to see about getting together to stitch. I think it would be a lot of fun. I also have a friend in Ransomville that I get together with and am hoping to meet more in our area.

a crazy weekend, a finish and a new start

Thursday night Justin started crying that he didn't want to go to college. I told him it was just his nerves and he gets anxiety attacks and he would be ok. Friday morning he loaded up his car and he still wasn't feeling better. We had to wait for Scott and Dylan, to get back from the dentists office til we all left. So they get home and Justin fit everything into his car so we don't need to load up the truck. Dylan rides with Justin and I am in the truck with Scott. We get to the college and they have signs of where to go depending on what dorm you are in. So we get there and we go in the dorm and get all the paperwork filled out and his dorm key. The guy handing out the key said that Justin's roommate hasn't checked in yet so Justin can pick out the good shit in the room LOL. So we go up and he picks his bed, desk and dresser. We then go down and there is a moving in table. Justin signs up and a golf cart with 2 wagons hooked up to it, pull up and we hop in. it takes us to the car and loads everything into the wagons. We go back to the dorm. Now this is the interesting thing. There is no elevators in the dorm and he is on the 3rd floor. They pull up underneath a window and load everything onto a lift, like what painters us. We go wait up in Justin's room. They get up to the window of the hallway and load everything onto a cart and that is pushed to Justin's room and we then unload. Wow, pretty easy and organized. I make Justin's bed and puts everything away. His roommate and his mom show up and we all get introduced. Scott and Dylan go outside and Justin is still unsure. Well he finally reveals that he will miss his friends. He has gone to the same school all of his school years with the same friends. This is a big change. I told him this is adult life now and this will happen all through his adulthood. Then we finally leave. I am ok to this point til we get into the parking lot and we walk past Justin's car to get to the truck and that is when I start crying. it only last about 2 minutes and then I was fine. Justin had to go and take care of things and get his books , so he did that all weekend. He did come home for a short time on Sunday. College is 40 minutes away and he is still keeping his job. I did talk to him today and he had 4 classes. he is doing much better.

Saturday I had an appointment with Dish Network from noon-5. Ok, I didn't clean or run anything so I wouldn't miss the guy. 2:30 I get a phone call that he will be here around 4:30. By 5:30 there is still no one here. My family is hungry and I still needed to get groceries. So we go to the store and we get home , unload the car and start supper. it is now 7pm and the cable guy shows up. Good thing this was a no charge service. he apologizes and has to move the Dish to a new location and then he is on his way and Scott is happy because the Dish is working again.

Sunday Scott always works at the station and he likes me to get him a coffee around 9 am so Dylan and I head out to do that and then we go to Target, which I haven't liked yet. I need to get flea dip for the cats and dog. This summer has been a bad one around here. So of course Target does not have this either. As always I walk out of the store empty handed. So what else is new and I am DONE with this store. Walmart is down the road and the store I always find what i want, I had to give Target one more chance though. So Dylan and I are looking for the dip and we find flea shampoo. I read the directions and it says to lather the cats and let it sit for 5 minutes. Are they serious? We are talking cats who hate baths and they want me to leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse it off? uh uh. So I go to the dog section and there is the flea dip for cats and dogs. I also buy the same brand Home Spray as well. So we go home. Dylan says lets get Speedy(1 year old) first. Now this cat does not like Dylan or Scott. So Dylan tries to dunk him right into the bucket of solution. Just picture a frog and having his back legs stretched out LOL. This is not going to work. So I hold the cat by the front of his throat and douse him with the dip. He is soaked and Dylan tells me to be careful that I don't choke the cat. I said the cat is just fine at which point he makes a gagging noise like I choked him. Good timing and sympathy on his part. Dylan dried him off with the towel and away he goes. Dylan grabs his cat which ways around 20 lbs. This should be fun. he was pretty good while Dylan held him and I doused him with the dip. Then is The Outsider, named after the movie. it was a phase of Dylan's. He sits in the tub and looks at us like ok I will sit here but hurry up and get this over with. he is done and one more cat to go. The 14 year old cat who under no certain terms lets us know he will do this. He bushed out his tail, growled and hissed at us and scratched us up. Fine be that way. Scott will do it when he gets home, it is his cat anyways. Now it is the dog's turn and he has already seen what happend to the cats and is not interested. So here I am sweet talking my 99 lb rottie/shepherd mix that I am doing this for his own good. He gets in the tub and mopes while I dip him all over. But you know dogs, he looked at me and shook so now I am soaked with flea dip LOL.. Scott got home and we did manage to get the other cat. Then I vacuumed and shampooed
carpets, dried them with fans and then sprayed the whole house with the spray, all except for my bedroom and I ran out of spray. So this weekend my bedroom will get it. Either you are still reading this and getting bored or laughing picturing us all getting wet and having cranky cats. None of the cats were mad at us by the way and let us love them right up.

So today I go to Curves before going to work. get home, start laundry and hang up curtains that I had washed. Did the dishes and started supper. Then I finally got to sit down and stitch, after reading emails and blogs. While online I watched a couple of episodes of General Hospital. I finished watching the rest while stitching. I also watched Skinwalkers on Netflix, which I did like. I finished JCS 2001 Linda Reeves Snow Glow and then started JCS 2001 Chessie & Me's Chessie & Friend. I got the tail done.

While cleaning today I also listened to The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz. I really like this audiobook.

SBQ

Stitching Blogger Question of the week:
This week's SBQ was suggested by Dawn
(http://crafterscreations.blogspot.com/) and is:

If you had to choose, would you rather spend money on overdyed floss
or hand-dyed fabric?

I have most of the overdyed flosses so I would have to go with the fabric and since that cost more I would choose that if I had to pick one.

Thank you

You all for looking at my blog and leaving comments here or emailing me. I can't tell you how much it means to me.

I stitched on Linda Reeves Snow Glow and love how it is turning out.

I went to Curves this morning before I went to work. Work went pretty well.

Tonight's movie was The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Jack Black. Very good movie. It has to do with the 2 women needing to get away and they swap houses for 2 weeks. One lives in L.A. and the other one lived in England. What a great idea to swap houses but my house is old and falling apart so it would be a great deal for me but not for the other person.

I didn't get a chance to listen to The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz, today . I am hoping to tomorrow.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

a finish and a start

I finished JCS 2001 Carol Emmers Aschenklaus. It is stitched on 28 ct tumbleweed linen with DMC and gold kreinik.
Then I started this, JCS 2001 Linda Reeves Designs Snow Glow which is being stitched on a banner material.

I went to work today and it was dead so I made bags with our labels for the customers to use. Came home and read emails, blogs and Bulletin Boards.
Yesterday I finished listening to The Husband by Dean Koontz, which I liked alot. Today I started The Darkest Evening of The Year by Dean Koontz and had me pulled in right away. Tonight I watched Inside Man, which I had DVRd this summer. Had Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster in it. Pretty good movie.

santa progress

I stitched on an off all day while watching TV. I was hoping to have this one section of him done but an online friend had me try a new messenger and I was playing with that. I did watch the General Hospital episodes to get caught up and then tonight I watched The Break Up, which I liked.
I also got some laundry done today. I am hoping with a lot of stitching time this week that santa will be done.

Fantasy Friday

This is Teresa Wentzler's The Storyteller. I started this on 2/19/06 and had finished the one section and am now working on another. I am doing this on Fridays with a blogging group. I stitched for a while but there is so many color changes that it doesn't look like much.

Now I am back to stitching on the santa and will post a pic tonight of the progress.

I had a Bookcrossing meeting today and my sister has joined. Her and her not so DH have split up and she will be seeing a lawyer. So she needs to get back into life and is happy again than she has been in a while. I don't think he will make anything easy and thank god they don't have kids.
Anyways she took a lot of books and I brought home a couple.

a progress pic

I stitched on this a little bit tonight. I was listening to The Husband by Dean Koontz, which is really good. Then I watched Friday's episode of General Hospital, which I am getting bored with.
I took off yesterday from work as I got free tickets for the Erie County Fair. It was 1 1/2 hours away. Kasey Kahne, from Nascar, was signing autographs but the line was so long that by the time we got there they were turning people away. I did get a couple of pics though and will have to share them this week.
The weather was perfect today. Not to hot and no rain. I did get the dishes washed and some laundry washed. I see more bloggers are posting here and I want to thank you for all the comments. It means alot to me. I have added some of you to my favorites, who I have never visited before.
Dylan got a Florida Peninsula Cooter Turtle last week and so I need to look up on how to take care of it just so I have some knowledge myself.

a WIP

I have been stitching on JCS 2001 Carol Emmer Aschenklauus. He seems to be a little work since there is a lot of color changes but also only a little bit of backstitching which will be great.

While stitching last night I watched License To Wed. It was a fun movie to watch and Robin Williams is always a delight.

Last week I finished listening to The Good Guy by Dean Koontz. Another great novel of his.

The next audiobook that I am listening to is The Husband by Dean Koontz. I will probably start it tomorrow.

Tonight , while I was stitching, I watched The Lost Boys: The Tribe. It is a sequel from The Lost Boys that was made in the 80's. it had both Corey Heim and Cory Feldman in it. I started watching it and it got gory from the beginning so I was going to turn it off but I decided to finish it. it was ok.

I have to tell you what happened to Dylan(ds#2) and I yesterday. Scott (DH) wanted me to go to the Rez for cigarettes. I don't smoke but him and Dylan do. Scott was working so Dylan and I dropped off my car at his work and I grabbed his truck. I wasn't going to waste my gas going there LOL. So I have a spare key for the truck on my key chain. I did tell Dylan to grab Scott's keys but he said no we would use mine. Dylan was driving. So we head out and the closer we get there the worse the weather is. Then it pours as we pull into the parking lot. So we get wet going into the store. I grab 3 cartons of cigarettes and while paying Dylan goes out to the truck. I get close to the truck and see the problem right away. We FORGOT that my spare key does not work in the doors. So we can't get into the truck. Dylan calls Scott and says, yes this works. Hold your cell phone next to your remote and unlock the doors while Dylan has his cell phone next to the locked door. Well of course I knew it wouldn't work. So we have to call the sheriff's office. I am not thrilled about this because alot of people buy more cartons of cigarettes than are allowed and I certainly don't want anyone to get into trouble. But Dylan calls and they don't know if they can help us since we already have the key. What difference does that make? Meanwhile Scott has my car at the station but he doesn't carry a spare key for my car and is still working there. he tells some customers what had happened and one customer came right back and said she lived by the store and could drop his set of keys off to us. GREAT!!! so I have Dylan call the Sheriff's office and cancel our call for help but thank you very much. Meanwhile it is just downpouring out and everyone is getting soaked. By the time we left it was stopping. we were there for about 1 1/2 hours. Talk about a waste of my day LOL. Plus it is another 45min- 1 hour drive back home. And I still had to go grocery shopping LOL. So from now on I told Dylan to grab his dad's keys and not use my spare. Mine only works in the ignition. it used to work in the doors but no longer does.

Instant Messengers

I used to chat all the time with mine and then with dial up I just stopped. I have only been able to get dial up where I live, even though there are a lot of houses around here. Anyways I just got WildBlue dish internet and can leave my messengers on. So I deleted everyone that was on it since I don't know most of them anymore. Anyways if you want to add me to yours my name is needeler and I am on Windows messenger, Yahoo and AIM. If you are a blogger then let me know that and your URL. If I know you from some group then let me know that.

SBQ of the week

This week's SBQ was suggested by Outi(http://snowprincipessa.livejournal.com/) and is:

What do you do to your thread clippings? Do you just scrap them or do you use them in something else?

I throw them out. I keep a basket next to me when I am stitching

Towel is finished

For the past 2 days I worked on this and finished it Monday night. It is from The Cross Stitcher February 2001.

I also started JCS 2001 Carol Emmer Aschenklaus but haven't scanned a pic yet.

While stitching this week I have watched:
The Reaping
Slither

I also finished listening to:
The Good Guy by Dean Koontz

Today I had high speed internet installed. I am using WildBlue Dish , which is through Dish network. It is faster than my dial up so I can read blogs and see pics much quicker. We got a router for it as well so all of us at home can use it. I also plan on leaving all of my instant mesengers on so I can see who is on.

WIP pic

Since yesterday was August 1st I had decided to pull out all my August projects that I want to work on. I still have to stitch up a JCS ornament for June and July along with Augusts.
I stitched on this towel while watching the DVR. I watched Thursdays and yesterdays General Hospital. Then I watched Garfield: a Tail of Two Kitties. That was cute!
Today we have a Surprise retirement party for one of my Aunts. I have to take pickles and olives :-)
After the party I plan on either going to The Rez with DH or sitting home stitching and watching TV.

Now onto my sad news. We had to put my 15 year old cat to sleep tonight. He has joined the Rainbow Bridge. He has been losing weight for a couple of months now and I knew just by his symptoms what the problem was. He has Kidney disease. We had another of our cats put to sleep 2 years ago with this. She was 18. With her we were able to do IVs in her skin a couple of times a week and we got 2 more wonderful years out of her. But Sundance is a very ornery cat and I knew there was no way that he would let us do any kinds of treatment for him. Dylan had cried out tonight that Sundance was falling over when he was walking and when he got on out bed he was wobbling like a drunk. Then he sat and pooped right on the bed. I looked at Dylan and at DH ( Scott) and I said it is time. he can not go on like this. So we called the vet and it was a little bit past office hours so we had to pay emergency fee as well. He is in a better place. I held him while Scott and the boys watched as the Vet put the injection in him. We are very sad to have seen him go but he led a good life. He was born on our bed March 24, 1993.

WIP

This towel is a desing from The Cross Stitcher February 2001 issue. it is Butterflies and Grapes. I started it a couple of years ago and was stupid really. I joined a bird exchange, any design as long as it had a bird but for some reason I started stitching this piece and said DUH! This is a butterfly. I had started the wrong design LOL. So I put it away and will give it to a friend when it is done.
I watched Star Wars III while stitching tonight. It was the only one I hadn't watched. I enjoyed it as much as the other ones.

weekend piece finished

I stitched this piece as a SAL with the Cross Stitch Pals and was a summer SAL. I can't remember what the fabric was but I used all Weeks Dye Works except for one color. I was almost out of it so I used DMC in its place. While stitching I watched Sweeney Todd and Reservation Road.

Tomorrow I will pick up a UFO towel that I would like to finish up and send to a friend. I plan on watching Star Wars III

I am also hoping to listen to more of The Good Guy by Dean Koontz.

I stitched this bookmark as part of a SAL through the Cross Stitch pals site.
Last night I watched The Spiderwick Chronicles , it was pretty good.
yesterday I finished listening to Brother Odd by Dean Koontz and I am now listening to The Good Guy by Dean Koontz.
I am now stitching on Lizzie Kate Summer ABCs Snippet.

It is supposed to be hot and humid all weekend so i will get more stitching time in and watch some more movies. Scott is working 1-9:30 today so I can watch TV all I want lol.

Stitching a bookmark

I have been stitching a few hours here and there on My Bookmark. Maybe I can finish it tomorrow :-)
it has been a busy few days here. My Supervisor is on vacation so I have had to work a little extra time , which makes the paycheck nice.
Last night was my Bookcrossing group meeting with the local group. There was 4 of us and it was nice. I didn't bring home any new books.
Justin started housesitting tonight. He is doing that for our Pastor as her and her son went on vacation for 2 weeks.
Not much else going on here except for the heat and humidity is coming back, ewww.

So is anyone going to join me in any SALS?

Saturday, July 12, 2008

Very HOT and humid day!

Tuesday I went to a LNS to pick up Glory Bee's BYOB(Bring Your Own Broom) I also have a Summer Sal to stitch so I also bought Lizzie Kate's Summer ABC's Snippet. I took Dylan and my mom with me since an old five and dime store is by the LNS. It is called Vidler's and is very popular and HUGE! My mom had always wanted to go and Dylan loves their candy selections. Mom wanted to know where vanessa (Dylan's girlfriend) was so we called her and picked her up on the way. We all had a good time.

I am also stitching a bookmark for the same SAL group through Cross Stitch Pals . So I started My Book from an old Jeannette Crew design. I am hoping to finish it today since it is so hot out and I plan to staying in the a/c family room all day.
I am also listing SALS that I plan on doing , in my sidebar so if interested let me know.

a Finish

I kept a little busy yesterday. Ran some errands and then watched a couple of movies and stitched on the stocking til it was finished. I watched : Loverboy, and Epic Movie. Neither one was all that great. Then the kids and I played a really fun game called Apples To Apples. I have never played it before but they have had it here a few times. So as you can see I was happy dancing.

The heat was horrible today and not supposed to be any better tomorrow but even worse. I had to have Dylan to work at 6 and then I went back home for a little bit and worked out at Curves at 8 for the first time in over a month. it felt great to do that and see everyone again. I started work at 9 and was done at 2:30. To hot at work. I picked up Dylan on my way home and then we went and got some groceries. When I got home I crashed and took a nap for 2 hours. Dylan wanted to play Guitar Hero III with me so we did a couple of songs.

Tomorrow I am going to the LNS to pick up a chart by Glory Bee called BYOB (Bring Your Own Broom) I am hoping to get a stitch a long going on that.

I am here, finally

These past 2 months have been crazy. I have had to go in early at work. Dylan got a new job so I have had to drop him off on my way to work and pick him up at supper time. Justin had his awards night and then graduation. I was working on his scrapbook on and off for several weeks so it would be ready for his party. His party was yesterday and was very small. Not many people showed up but we had quite a bit of food and a great time. Lot of work and money to pull off. Seems like all I did was shop and prepare things for the party and work on the scrapbook.
July 3rd is when we get together with friends. I grew up next door to these friends for years and we always had combined parties on Conesus lake, where we lived. They had the ring of fire every year. A couple of years ago my parents moved and we still celebrated the 3rd with the former neighbors. Well they just sold their house so after 30 years of these parties it was the last one and bittersweet. No more visiting the lake where I grew up. Everyone has moved away.

This week is catching up mailing things out of exchanges, RRs and books that I owe people. Thank you everyone for being patient with me.

I should be finishing Fishing Santa Stocking within the next day or two. Maybe even tonight woohoo!!

I haven't been reading much but I have been listening to audiobooks , which count in my book haha. Right now I am listening to the last 5 of Dean koontz's books. I am on Forever Odd right now.

My freebie exchange

I received my freebie exchange from Laura. We thought it was lost in the mail and then i found out she had sent it UPS weeks ago. Then I remembered that there was a UPS box on my porch but I thought it was the one that DHs cell phone came in. Boy do I feel like an idiot. I love the pillow that she finished with the pocket in the back and all of the little goodies. Thank you for a wonderful exchange.

a little of this and a little of that

I have been stitching a lot in the month of May. I finished 2 cards by M Designs from the MB class that I took. I stitched up my monthly JCS ornament from the 1998 issue. The design is Mosey 'n Me's A Gift For a friend. There is supposed to be a little white bird button on the snowman's nose but I don't have any bird buttons in the house so I will have to pick one up sometime.

I also got quite a bit stitched on Fishing Santa Stocking. I am almost done with it.

Also is a pic of Justin's prom pic. They had a blast. He asked to use my car for the night and he was home by 11:30 as he did not want to go to parties as some had alcohol there. Smart kid. Justin is the one with the glasses on.

While stitching during the week I watched a bunch of movies.

The Waterhorse - Legend of the Deep

Umited 93

Disturbia

Stay Alive

X-Men :The Last Stand

Juno

The Secrets of The Summerhouse - Lifetime movie

I also finished an audiobook: Circle of Quilters by Jennifer Chiaverini and I started another one by her called The Quilters Homecoming.

I won't be stitching much this month. Justin graduates on the 29th and I STILL have to put together his scrapbook. So I am finishing a square for a RR and then working on the scrapbook as much as possible. I will try to post pics of the pages.

I picked up a magazine. Cross Country Stitching June 2008. After reading on Becky's blog about the S is for Stitcher Sampler. I had to see the magazine in person and fell in love with this sampler and ,Peace,Love,Joy & Life Quilt Sampler and , Bee Kind , Bee True ABCs. So Does anyone want to do any SALs with me in the future. I want to do S is for Stitcher in the fall. The Peace Love and Joy in the winter and do Bee Kind in the spring. Just email me if interested.

MIA again

I have been staying busy and now I am sick with a sinus infection. Has me down and out and I don't feel like doing anything but came here to say hi and I need to post a pic of the progress on the fishing santa stocking. Hopefully I will get that done within the next couple of days.
Our tax refudn check came in and we needed a few things. Dylan went to the really nice used clothes for teens. They carry Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, American eagle and Aeropostle clothes. So Dylan got 3-4 pairs of jeans, 4 shirts and a little under $100. Can't beat that price for those designers and they don't look worn. Scott and I got a pair of sneakers. We have always bought New Balance but the last couple of pairs we bought, hurt our feet at our jobs. So I got Oasics gel sneakers and Scott got Nike. They were on sale. Justin wasn't around but he told me he doesn't need anything. Then the 3 of us went to The Outback , for dinner. We had prime rib , which was a little tough for some reason. Got home around 8:30 and I went on the computer and played SimCity4 Deluxe Edition. Scott channeled surf, drives me up the wall when he does that lol.
Today I just want to veg in front of the TV and stitch on some more things from thr M Designs ornament class.

How was your weekend?

My weekend was fun. Friday I didn't have to go to work so my car got washed. The bugs were horrible on the windshield and front bumper.
Went out with 8 other women from Curves. We do this once a month. We ended up going to Margarita's, which is a Mexican restaurant. We had a lot of fun.
I always stitch an ornament on the 25th of each month. Well Friday was pretty busy so I didn't get to my ornament til Saturday. This is JCS 2007 Brittercup Poinsettia. I am not sure how I want to finish it yet.
This card was from a ornament, etc kit class that i took in Myrtle Beach, with the Cross Stitch pals. The class was with M Designs. I started it back in October and finished it up today. Then I kitted up another card to start next weekend.
During all of this stitching I watched quite a bit of TV
DVDs:
Catch and Release - really good
Nancy Drew- was ok
Ratatouille - cute
VCR:
Grey's Anatomy
Lost
General Hospital
Ghost Whisperer
TV:
some Nascar today
Desperate Housewives

I even had a chance to read a little bit. I am reading Kitty Goes To washington by Carrie Vaughan

This week I will be stitching on Fishing Santa Stocking.

a nice weekend

We have had beautiful weather and it is nice to have the windows open again and breathing in the fresh air. Nothing exciting this weekend here. I stitched, read and watched movies.
TV:
tonight's Desperate Housewives
DVR-
Ghost Whisperer 4/11
Medium 4/14
DVR:
August Rush- awesome movie but have kleenex ready
Across The Universe - watched about 15-20 minutes and did not care for it . I did like the music though :-)
The Seeker - enjoyed

Reading:
No Humans Involved - Kelley Armstrong - paranormal book and have enjoyed the other books in this series.

Stitching:
Finished KarenAZ's RR - Christmas Alphabet by Prairie Schooler and I stitched S and the K
I took M Designs Ornament class . at MB, in October and have pulled it out. Am working on a Christmas card that I started at the class. I will work on this kit of ornaments etc. on the weekends as part of the Cross Stitch Pals MB challenge . The card that I am doing is We Love The Winter Weather and will post a pic when I am done.

The kids go back to school tomorrow, after 2 weeks off. Which is a good thing because Dylan has had friends over almost every day and night since it started. Will be nice to have my house back :-) Work has been so slow and have only been getting in about 12 hours a week. Can't wait for this slow season to be over. it has been nice to get things done at home but bills don't get paid.

I have been playing 4 Sim City Deluxe Edition and having a blast building cities. Anyone else have this game?

No work today

My supervisor called and said not much to do today so I didn't have to go in. Caught up on some laundry and cleaned the living room.
I did finish the backstitching on the top left quarter of the stocking. I have decided to post a progress pic once a week. I started the bottom left quarter.
I also read quite a bit of Haunted by Kelley Armstrong.
As for watching TV. I watched general Hospital.
On The DVR I watched The Good Witch, which was a Hallmark movie. From Netflix I watched Evam Almighty, which I enjoyed more than Bruce Almighty.

Anyways he bought me the most beautiful card, that meant more to me than any gift. I stop at the local coffee shop every morning and this morning I got sung to and my coffee was free.
